Kara's eyes widened as she took in the sight of the sleek, black McLaren. She had accidentally collided with the luxury car, and now its owner was glaring at her.
“You have to pay” Alexander's voice was laced with disdain, his eyes narrowing as he inspected the damage.
Kara's face flushed with embarrassment. “I'm sorry,” she stammered.
Alexander's expression turned glacial. “Your sorry won't fix the damage.”
Kara's eyes dropped, her voice barely above a whisper. “But I can't pay the damage”.
Alexander's gaze lingered on her, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “According to section 303, causing damage to personal property carries a two-year prison sentence. Are you okay with that?”
“Okay I'll pay for the repairs”. She said boldly.
Kara's eyes snapped back to his, alarm etched on her face. “$27,000,” Alexander demanded, his voice cold and detached.
Kara's jaw dropped. “W-what?” she stuttered.
Alexander's eyes seemed to bore into her soul. “That's what it'll cost to repair my McLaren.”
Just as Kara was about to respond, a voice interrupted their tense exchange.
“Sir!” Mr. John, Alexander's secretary, approached him.
Alexander's gaze shifted, his expression softening slightly. “Yes, Mr. John?”
“Mrs. Frostwood is waiting for you, sir.”
Alexander nodded, his eyes never leaving Kara's face. “See to the repairs, Mr. John. I have a prior engagement.”
As Alexander and Mr. John walked away, Kara breathed a sigh of relief. But her respite was short-lived.
“What in the world he thinks he is?”. Karachi rolled her eyes and move towards where ceremony was happening.
“Who was she?” Mr. John asked Alexander.
Alexander's response was curt. “No one.”
Meanwhile, Alexander's thoughts were consumed by Kara. Her boldness intrigued him.
…
Soon the charity welfare event started many socialite people, business, and people in trust fund were present to donate hefty amount, Kara has been donating some amount since her college years.
Because of that, Kara was being honored for her generous donation. As she accepted the certificate, her eyes met Alexander's across the room.
Their gazes locked, and for a moment, time stood still.
Alexander's thoughts drifted back to their earlier encounter. $10,000 – the amount Kara had donated. He smirked, impressed despite himself.
As the evening drew to a close, Kara was enjoying the ceremony looking around taking in the decorations, suddenly she saw an old lady struggling to pick her purse up from the ground.
She hurried towards the lady and helped her, “Thank you”. The lady said, “No need”. Kara said giving a polite smile, “What's your name child?”. The lady asked.
“Kara… Kara Anderson”. She replied, the lady nodded in knowing manner, “I am Mrs. Frostwood”. The old lady said.
As they were talking Alexander eyes suddenly landed on her grandma who was talking to that same girl, who crashed his car recently
Their paths crossed once more, and this time, Alexander's eyes sparkled with amusement.
“Interesting person, I see,” he murmured to Mr. John.
