The first thing I notice is that I'm not home. The second thing I notice, is that my mom is talking to me.

"-We're going out to do something together for the day. Lock the door behind us, and do not let anyone in." Mom pauses to give a pointed look at my younger sister, who looks to be only half-listening. She then looks to me and places a kiss to my forehead. "Make sure she doesn't do anything she isn't supposed to, lock the door, and chill out 'til we get back. Tomorrow, we can go do the things we planned. For now, settle down and get comfortable, then we can have fun on our trip."

'Trip. So we're on a trip. Okay, not unusual. Must be in the middle of summer then.'

I nod. When they leave, I lock the door and look to my sister. "Remember, no unlocking or opening the doors, and don't look out the windows, since you have a tendency to do that." She sighs dramatically and looks at me. "I know, you say that, every time."

"Well, you wouldn't have to hear that every time if you just stayed away from window and doors." I retorted. She rolled her eyes and walked off, presumably to a different part of the house we booked.

So now, I didn't know what to do. I then hear the sounds of trucks rolling through the neighborhood, stopping on the sides of the road. They sounded like my dad's truck, so I squint towards the windows, wondering if I'll see the bright red of the tahoe. I don't and realize there's two trucks. One, a dark orange, and I can't remember the color of the other one. They both look as if there was a lot of time and money put into them.

I shrug and walk off, exploring the house.

Soon, I end up back infront of the front door, and I hear knocking. I don't open it though, and I briefly wonder where my sister ran off to. The knocking got louder for a second, and a small tingle of fear settles into me. When it stops, I breathe a sigh of relief and go to the back door.

When I reach the back door, I realize it's unlocked, so I reach out to lock it. The door starts to open, so I grab the handle and force it closed, realizing someone's on the other side. Fear creeps into me before I hear the voice of someone younger than me. "Hello?" they question. I opened the door by a sliver and looked out.

There was a boy, and he was younger than me by at least 2-3 years. He looked at me and smiled. "Hi, I was wondering if you'd like to listen to my music?" he asked, which confused the hell out of dream-version of me. I step out onto the back porch, taking notice of the dogs they have in a pin. The kid briefly says one of their names, but I didn't catch it.

I chuckled awkwardly and waved my hand to my neck. "No, I'm- I'm good." I replied, he seemed to take it as a challenge as he replied with "Please? It's good music!" before I could answer though, his mom came out through their back door. "Stop bothering the neighbors! They just got here." She then turned to me. "I'm sorry about him."

I smiled before replying. "Oh no, it's fine, really." I then turned to look at the kid. "Maybe later, okay?" he nods, then my sister comes through the back door, seemingly appearing from thin air. She sees him and immediately makes him her friend. (But like, how do younger children have that ability though? Like wtf?)

After that, I realize that I hear distant banging, so I go inside and realize that my two dogs are there, one of which isn't supposed to be here, because she was put down in January. I pet her, taking a second to take her in since I haven't seen in a long time. I then remember the banging, which was still happening.
