In the midst of death, Gojo Satoru had three things on his mind.

One: He worried about his beloved boy, Megumi.

Two: He felt bad for Shoko, who has to deal with the aftermath.

Three: He wondered if he'll have the chance to see everyone again in the future.

Powerless as he was against the absolute fate of death, Gojo Satoru could only close his eyes.

"Yo!"

A familiar voice said followed by a cheerful laugh.

"Long time no see, best friend."

It was a voice forever entombed in the depths of Gojo's heart, a voice he thought he'd never hear again from its original owner. At that moment, Gojo felt as if he had traveled back in time. Geto was here with him again, the one and only best friend he ever had. Feeling the relief crush down his anxious feelings, Gojo once again resumed being his old self.

"You're kidding me, this sucks. This better be a dream" He said as he slumped over. "Being alive beats this a million times."

"Yeah, no kidding." Geto replied. "At least we both died facing a worthy opponent."

Geto smiled, a lock of hair falling onto his face. Reminded of some events, Gojo glanced over at his old friend. "Suguru, back then..." he started.

"Satoru," Geto cut him off. "There is no reason to dwell on the things of the past. What once was already happened, and there's no changing it," he continued. "Right now, nothing matters anymore. Sorcerers, humans, curses, and spirits," he paused, looking into Gojo's eyes. "They are all gone now. Let's focus on ourselves now."

"..." This must be a dream, Gojo thought. The words that just came out of Geto's mouth would have never been spoken by him when he was alive.

"I'm glad you found a place to finally let go of those crazy beliefs you had," Gojo said.

He felt his heart pump, an event now as unlikely as it seems. Gojo was now in a place of no time nor space, free to do anything he wanted, with all the people that he missed. The overbearing title of "strongest" no longer had any meaning to him and he was now free to relax after all those years of fighting.

He shifted his head onto the sturdy shoulder of Geto, smiling as he thought of the future joys that the future had for him. Geto passed him a small platter of treats, all of which were Gojo's favorites from when they were young.

"Had these prepared for you. You still like sweets, right?"

Gojo laughed. "How did you know I was coming here?"

Geto shrugged, careful to not move Gojo's head on his shoulder. "Some things surpass the barrier between life and death. Perhaps there is still a lingering part of me in the world, unable to move on and too stubborn to give up."

He was referring to his corpse being possessed by Kenjaku. The way his body responded to Gojo's call despite being under Kenjaku's control was something that couldn't be explained in simple terms, but Geto assumed that it was because a part of him still existed in the world, thanks to his last dying desire of wanting to protect a certain someone.

"You were always my best friend too, Satoru." Geto whispered.

"Yeah, I know, I know." Gojo said. "I always knew even if you were too damn prideful to admit it, you bastard."

They both chuckled away, reminiscing about the past and wondering about the future.

"Hey, I wonder when Shoko will come join us?" Gojo asked.

"Nah, it won't be for a while," Geto replied after thinking for a second. "It's not like her to die this early, she's too smart for that."

"Mmmh, I think so. Now I'm hoping this isn't a dream."

"Don't worry, this 'dream' will last an eternity." Geto reassured him. "We have all the time in this world."

It hasn't even been a minute yet in the living world, but Gojo already settled right into the afterlife. The last of Gojo's soul was leaving his body, and soon enough he will be officially dead.

Gojo Satoru awoke into his dream, yet he will forever remain asleep.
