Toni's thumb hovered over the create profile button, hesitant at the last moment. She knew what her friends would say if they could see her now. Pepper would remind her of the risks, of what could happen if her identity got exposed, while Rhodey would just laugh, but caution her all the same. And deep down they'd both hope that it worked out, for her sake.

She knew this wasn't a good idea - after all, even if a connection was forged, it would be limited, fake. But still human. And anonymous. That was the big, golden ticket in all of this. Anonymity, a chance to be a normal person, to have a normal interaction with another normal person, even if she was hidden behind a screen and a fake name.

Her eyes traveled from the phone in her hands to the laptop sitting in front of her, multiple windows open with news articles and social media threads - all with her name on them. Just another reminder of her mistakes, of assumptions. The ramblings of people who didn't even know her, but thought they had a right to her life anyway.

She swallowed, looking back down at the phone. She needed this. She needed a chance to be someone else for a while.

Her thumb touched the screen and bold letters flashed across it account created, welcome to anonylove.

Done.
