"What's the matter with everyone today?" Meliodas wondered.

Sage only shrugged, but Elizabeth was visibly frightened.

"Holy Knights..." she muttered.

"Hey Boss," Sage spoke up, gaining his attention.

She didn't like how things were shaping up. Right now, they were at a disadvantage being caught off guard like this. If those knights got a good enough look at Elizabeth, they would figure it out and then this whole thing would turn into a shit show.

"What do you wanna do?" She asked nodding her head towards the front door.

Meliodas pondered it for a moment, and then an idea came to mind. He smacked his fist down onto the palm of his other hand.

"I got it. Hawk, you're with me. Sage, take her out the back door. We'll distract them so you can find somewhere to lay low in the woods."

Sage nodded and grabbed Elizabeth's hand. The two of them made their way behind the bar and out the other door. As it was closing, she heard Meliodas say,

"Alright, Hawk. Let's go get that armor."

When the door fully closed, Sage turned to Elizabeth and signaled for her to not make a sound. Elizabeth nodded nervously. Sage could feel her anxiety, it was rubbing off on her as well.  She grabbed the girl's shoulders and held them with a firm grip.

"Don't worry, you're going to be fine. Just trust me," she whispered.

Elizabeth gave a small smile and nodded her head.

"Okay. When I tell you, sprint for the tree line. No matter what happens, do not stop running. Got that?" Sage ordered.

Elizabeth hesitated for a moment, seeming like she wanted to ask what Sage was going to do, but she stayed silent and slowly nodded in understanding.

"Good."

Sage peered around the bend of the porch to get a better view of the situation. She saw Meliodas standing before a group of knights. Her brows furrowed as she tried to focus on what they were saying.

"Better come out!" Meliodas said, looking over his shoulder.

She could hear the sound of armor clanking and Hawk laughing.

"Who is calling for me? I am Sir Hawk, the Rusty Knight," he said as he walked outside.

The knights were taken aback by the talking pig dressed up in armor. Sage could barely make out all of their bickering back and forth, but it didn't matter anyway.

The knights were distracted. This was as good a time as any. Sage looked back at Elizabeth.

"Go," she signaled.

Elizabeth stopped at the edge of the building, peering around to look at the group of knights before taking off into the woods. One of the men spotted her long, white hair as she disappeared.

"Allioni, look! A girl ran out the back!" he shouted.

The knight he called Allioni was holding Meliodas off the ground by the collar of his shirt. When he heard this, he instantly dropped the tavern owner

"What?"

Sage groaned with frustration. She had hoped that they were distracted enough by Meliodas, but she was wrong. She took a breath before sprinting off in a different direction. This time all of the knights spotted her.
