Crista p.o.v

I let out a sigh after I had told the three adults about my day. I looked up to see smiles on all their faces. This just confused me even more.

"Uh, could someone tell me whats going on?" I put me hands together onto my lap and sat back. My parents were holding hands and looking at each other as they always did. While Jack was sitting up straight and seemed to be examining me with a proud glint in his eye.

"Crista, have you heard of the werewolve?" He leaned foward. I nodded.

"Yeah, like someone who, uh, transforms into a wolf like hybrid when the moon is full?" Jack laughed at this and then looked at my parents. "Haven't been exactly honest with her now have we?" I looked over at my parents and saw that they had lowered their heads. My eyebrows furrowed as I turned back to Jack.

"We were afraid, Alpha." My mother blurted out.

"You should have trusted your pack to take care of it but your back and just in time. That is what matters." My eyes widened in confusion at their words. They were utterly foreign to me and yet it seemed natural that they would be using them.

" We're sorry Alpha, but we felt that Crista would be safer. We see our fault now." My father spoke up then.

"Safe from what? What's going on here?" I spoke up from my spot. I looked between the adults who had apparently momentarily forgotten that I was here. I stood up and walked closer to my parents.

"Mom? Dad?" I looked at each and they both turned from my accusing eyes. I bent down and grabbed my moms hands. I looked into her eyes and found my own reflection. What I saw didn't surprise me, there I was crouched and looking terrified.

"Honey, we are so sorry but everythings going to be alright now. Jack can explain." My father put his hand onto my cheek and gave me a small smile. I sighed and resigned myself back to my old spot.

"They do exist Crista, everywhere you go. But unlike what you think, they do not wonder alone. In truth they stay in a pack, as if they were true wolves in nature. In America alone there are many packs and world wide the numbers reach up to the hundreds. Right now we are in the Lunar pack territory. I am the alpha meaning I am the leader of this pack alongside my wife Margaret, the Luna." It took me a few seconds before I could process what he had just said. I looked over at my parents.

"Honey, what he's saying is the truth. Your mother and I are, well, werewolves." My father patted my mother's hand.

"But...how? I mean, I've never seen..." I trailed off as I thought back to my childhood. Never had I seen anything out if the ordinary or something that screamed supernatural.

"When you were born. We stopped shifting because we were afraid of what would happen to you." My mom reached out to me.

"Afraid of what? What's going to happen to me?" I could feel my lip trembling as my brain started to go a thousand miles a minute.

"Crista, years ago before you were born the pack was attacked. And your father was one of our best warriors. During that attack, he killed someone very important to the enemy and their family had sworn that they would take revenge." My head whipped toward my dad as he hung his head. "We took it as an empty threat seeing as they had no resources of any sorts to try anything." Alpha jack pulled a hand through his hair as he stood up.

"Then, a couple months before you were born. Someone broke into our house and your room was destroyed." Tears threatened my mother's eyes. "We found a note saying they would come back. So we ran." My dad was now holding my mom as she struggled to contain her tears.

"It was only recently that we were able to finally track them down. We dealt with them and your parents knew it was safe enough to come back. Now you can learn of who you are." Alpha Jack smiled.

"Who am I? Am I really, a werewolf?"

"Yes, and I'm pretty sure you haven't shifted yet either." My eyes widened at that.

"Shift?" Now that I was learning to accept this, kind of. I wanted to know everything I was capable of.

"When you turn into your wolf form."
"When will that happen?" I stood as a image of my face on a dogs body appeared in my head.

"Don't worry. For female wolf's that doesn't happen unless their in certain circumstances. Like if their experiencing extreme emotions or sometimes even when they find their mate." Jack explained but I froze at the last word.

"What is a mate?" I felt as if I had waited forever before he told me.

"A mate is like a peice of you. They are the one person that the moon goddess designed especially for you and only you. When you meet them, their smell is the first thing you notice. When you make eye contact, you could say its magical." He smiled as if replaying a beloved memory.

"Honey, are you all right?" My mother's voice seemed to go in one ear and out the other.

Mate, that's what the voice had said in my head when I met Drake. I felt myself tremble from the shock of it all. Here I was this morning relishing in my new life. How everything was finally as if I was a normal senior about to finish high school. But I wasn't, I was a part of a world that shouldn't even exist. I hugged my arms as I felt myself falling to the ground.

"Crista!" I felt my parents try to help me up but my legs felt like dead weight. I tried to focus on my breathing that was quickening by the minute.

I felt like I had been stabbed by a pin in my hand and gritted my teeth against the pain. Soon more started to stab at my hand and the pain became unbearable.

I screamed as if I was dying.
