SOTC (Song of the Chapter): I Need Your Love by Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding

He dragged his hand though his flawless hair, his lips in an edgy and sexy smile. Star felt her jaw go slack as she stared at him, already feeling how this boy affected her deep inside of her body. Emotions she never knew she had stirred inside of her as she continued to gaze at his shirtless body. Such hot abs, she thought. His swimming trunks hung low on his waist. She stopped her eyes from going any lower and began studying his brown hair, his warm chocolate brown eyes and tan skin as her mind began fantasizing of scenarios of them being together...

Why couldn't he just notice her? She was sitting conveniently close to where he was. Then again, maybe it was better if he didn't recognize her. She might just have been at a loss for words and then her stupid self would have blabbed on and on about how red starfish were prettier than blue starfish.

The thought made Star scoot a little farther away from him and his perfectly sculpted body. She could just admire from a distance. She was at the beach. It was the last week of Summer and she wanted to enjoy one last ounce of freedom before it was time for another year. No, she didn't know that Daniel McLain was going to be at the beach as well. That would have been a stalker move to follow him- even considering the huge crush she had on him.

She didn't know a lot about him. The last thing she wanted was a big fat STALKER sign on her record, especially when the hottest guy in the world attended her school. What she did manage to find out though, was that his father was a wealthy businessman. Star didn't know exactly what business Daniel's father ran, but it didn't really matter. Daniel's family was definitely rich. He was also at the beach at the moment, if you hadn't caught on.

So now Star Romano was sitting on her beach towel, watching the guy of her high school dreams at the beach. A goofy smile found its way to her lips when he turned to face her. She could stare at his abs all day. Then the weirdest thing happened. Daniel started heading her direction.

Sunglasses, where are my sunglasses? Star flipped sideways but couldn't find them. She continued looking frantically.

"Hey!" Star recognized it as Daniel's voice.

He's talking to his friend probably. She hoped Daniel's remark was pointed at someone else because she had already made a big fool of herself in front of him by giving him a large dreamy smile without even trying to hide it. She turned right-side up on her towel to find that he was talking to her. In fact, Daniel McLain was standing right in front of her, looking down with that flirtatious smile on his face.

"I know you from somewhere," he stated.

Daniel stood proudly with his hands at his side. He crouched toward her, making her cheeks flush. His hair fell in his eyes. With one crisp sweep, he sleeked his hair back. Beads of water from his hair sprinkled on Star's skin. His chocolate eyes watched her steadily, growing more amused with each second. It then clicked in her head. He's talking to you, dumbass!

Star did a quick hair-behind-her-ear motion. "Yeah. I go to your school." She answered. Yay, I didn't freak! Keep it up.

Daniel gave his one-of-a-kind smile. "No wonder! I remember you now. Aren't you the girl who flipped when her grade dropped to a B+?"

Star frowned. "You remember that? That was like, what, freshman year?" She tried sounding cool, but her bottom lip kept trembling and she couldn't keep it still. Oh great now it comes.

"Yeah. Last year actually." Daniel looked away and squinted at the sun. That's the exact response Star had been expecting.

A nervous laugh rumbled out of Star's throat. "Is that all you remember of me?"

"Well no. There was that one time you accidentally bumped into me in the hall and then ran away like your life would end. But that's it."

Star blushed. "Do you have to remember all my bad days?" She said in a sour tone. Then again, would he know any of her good ones? Any time Daniel was around her, she always made a fool of herself.

"Well you always kept your distance, but if it's not too much to ask can I have your name?"

She gave him a sarcastic grin. "If your tiny brain can remember it then sure."

Star wanted to smack herself. She had not just said that. That comment was completely uncalled for and extremely rude! She always had to ruin everything, didn't she. Surprisingly though, Daniel laughed. I made him laugh! She thought in disbelief.

It was rich and full and good to hear. His wet hair sprinkled drops onto her face as he laughed, but Star didn't really mind. She smiled to herself, almost not catching his next words.

"I'll remember, you can count on it."

She smiled. "Good. It's Star Romano," she said her name as if she was in a game show. Way to play it cool... Daniel looked at her in disbelief. She returned his expression with a mixture of worry and confusion. "What? Is there something on my face?" She started panicking. I knew this was all too good to be true! Now he's going to leave me all alone!

He shook his head. "You're Italian?"

Star nodded. "Yes! That's me, full of nothin' but Italian. That's why I'm short. And I have thick hair and stuff like that." Did I just say that?! I sound like a retard, a major retarded loser! She cleared her throat and puffed her hair up a bit. "How'd you know?" she inquired, trying her gain back her cool.

He shrugged. "Your last name. I did a little research on Italy last year. Turns out they are quite the animal." He winked. "Sexy too."

Star's cheeks began to explode with color. It looked like someone had just smashed cherry pie onto her face. Daniel McLain had just flirted with her! "Thanks," she mumbled.

"You're welcome," he said with a nod. "So can I feel it?"

"My hair?" Daniel nodded. Okay, now he's just acting weird. She shrugged. "Well go ahead weirdo," she joked.

He chuckled and sat down next to her, stroking her hair. Star fidgeted a little. This was the closest a guy had ever gotten to her other than that Nerd Garry who had been her science project in need of some Proactive. That had been a nightmare. She could faintly make out how irregular his breathing was and how foul it smelled when he tried to speak seductively in her ear. Ew.

Daniel leaned in and put his lips close to Star's ear. This was nothing like Nerd Garry at all. She could just imagine Daniel having minty fresh breath. She squeezed her eyes shut for a few moments before opening them again. So this is really happening!

"You're hot," he whispered. She would have given a goofy smile in return, had she not caught herself. You don't give goofy smiles to hot guys! He looked at Star and smiled. Then he distanced himself a couple of inches away from her and asked, "So now that I have your name, it's only fitting that I have your number as well..."
