The Midterms

Josh is on the speaker phone in C.J's office talking to her from his apartments. He has been bed ridden since he go out of surgery and hasn't been to the office since. He has been communicating with the staff by calling them every five minutes, especially Alex "It's called the Theory of Everything." He says to C.J

C.J. is in her office picking up and putting down various pieces of paper and files, while
speaking on the phone with Josh. "The Theory of Everything?"

"Yes."

"Is it comprehensive?"

"C.J...."

C.J. sits down at her desk rummaging through her files.
"That was a joke there, pal-o-mine."

"I want you to lead with this."

"Carol, I'm missing the OMB stats." Carol is popping in and out of C.J.'s office handing her different files. "They're coming."

Josh still through the phone. "C.J. I want you to lead with this."

"I'm not gonna lead with it."

"Yes, you are."

"Okay." She says just to shut him up. "So, you got it?"

"Sure."

"I mean, you got what you're suppose to say." Josh asks
"Carol, also the EPA?"

Carol enters the room. "Committee won't be out 'til 3:00." Alex enters C.J's office holding a bag of popcorn. "Hey, you have a minute?"

"C.J. say it for me." Josh says.

"He's making me crazy." She says to Alex. "I know" as she shakes her head in understanding as she was on the phone with him for 3 hours this morning.

Through the phone. "You know I heard that."

"Yeah, I understand how a speakerphone works." C.J says .

"Say it for me."

"Say what?" Alex asks as she shoves popcorn into her mouth.

"Joshua, I really have to get to the briefing room." She starts to put on her jacket.

"Say it please."

C.J sighs as she hesitantly says. "Psychics at Cal Tech and the FERMI National Accelerator Lab are close to
announcing what..."

"Physicists! Theoretical physicists at Cal Tech..." Josh yells through the phone in anger. "Not psychics?" C.J asks  confused. "No."

"I should jot that down."

"Probably, here's a pen" Alex hands her a pen while sitting in C.J's desk. "I tell you if it was psychics I'd lead with it." C.J. gets up to leave along with Alex. "C.J..." Josh starts. "Talk to you later mi amor." She and Alex head out the door.

"I don't think you understand how important this is..." Josh continues. He continues to ramble but there's no one in C.J.'s office.

"The OMB Stats." Carol starts as she hands C.J. some papers. "Thank you. You can set 'em down" C.J tells her as they walk faster.

Alex, following behind her, looks to Carol. "You should let Josh rant a little before you hang
up the phone."

"Sure." Carol says as she walks a different way. C.J. and Alex
walk through Josh's bullpen area.

"The Bureau of Labor Statistics is going to report that the CPI jump 0.7%..." Alex tells C.J. "Okay..." C.J says. "...is the biggest one month increase since the Bureau began tracking prices in
'52."
