𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐄, your older brother you had looked up to all your life was gone. dreams of what could've happened to him flooded your head.

"(Y/N), sweetheart," you mother opened the door to your bedroom. "it's time to wake up."

you groaned in response, the sun from your window hitting your eyes.

"i can't open the bakery on my own, now can i? get up, i need help with the displays," she said before shutting your door once more.

it was just you and your mother, your father was an inazuman and your brother had left mondstadt to find him. your mother had put up a front, an act in which she supported your brother's decision however you couldn't help but resent him a little for leaving you both all alone.

despite your tiredness, you got up and made your way to your wardrobe where you pulled out a (favourite colour) knee-length skirt, white top and a brown corset like belt. you threw your hair up quickly, to avoid getting any in the food before walking downstairs to the bakery.

"good, you're up," your mother smiled, handing you a freshly baked muffin. "your favourite kind," she smiled.

"thanks mom."

your mother was popular in the village of mondstadt, for her kind ways. the type of woman who would give baked goods to people free of charge, great for them however not so great for the already tiny business.

you began placing cakes, cupcakes, bread, etcetera, in the glass display case before getting behind the counter. you sighed, waiting for someone to enter the building. things felt a lot slower without thoma around.

"oh, good morning sister jilliana," you smiled at the brunette woman as she walked in.

"good morning, (Y/N),' she smiled softly in return.

"what can i get for you?"

"hmm.. three of those vanilla cupcakes should do," she pointed at the tiny cakes.

"special event?" you asked as you began boxing them up.

"it's my lily's birthday! i got some time away from the church this morning to grab her gifts."

"a birthday, huh?" you smiled. "then take an extra, free of charge. my gift to her."

"i couldn't-"

"i insist, that'll be fourteen hundred mora," you slid the box across the counter.

"best prices in mondstadt," she handed you the money.

"of course."

"thank you, (Y/N). lily will be over the moon! may barbatos' gentle wind be with you!" she chimed as she began to walk towards the exit.

"you too, tell lily i said happy birthday!"

she nodded in response before going on her way.

the morning passed, not many customers came in. nothing out of the usual.

"dear, i need you to go out and get me some ingredients," your mother brought you out a basket and list.

"mora?" you asked, seeing she hadn't given you a money pouch.

"you'll be able to find all of it not too far out of the village. just don't go too far, can't lose you hilichurl."

"that'd be a tough way to go," you laughed a bit. "i'll be back soon then."

"be safe," she gave you final word of warning before you headed out.

your mother had been experimenting with floral flavours, all she wanted were some edible flowers and possibly a few berries. the walk through the village was the same as every other day, you had a short chat with the guards who seemed a bit on edge but you brushed it off.

'calla lilies, valberries and windwheel asters..? okay i guess..' you were able to find the flowers but left the berries for another day.

on your way back, you noticed a stranger in front of you. but you had known almost everyone in mondstadt.

he was tall, red headed and wearing a grey suit with a red scarf. he looked important, but wasn't part of the knights.

'who is he?'
