"Are you sure this is the right door?"

Immy stood beside one of the two doors in the room, debating whether door 14 was a dupe or not. She couldn't afford to get injured this early on in their adventure. Not when there were 100 doors to go through. She was strong, and tough. She had brown, wavy waterfalls of hair that fell to her shoulders and golden eyes. She was wearing her signature black beanie and face mask, and a dark midnight coat to go with it. No, she was too young, and too beautiful to die.

Her friend Mimi stood on the other side of the room, ear next to the wall of door 15. What she was doing, Immy didn't know, but if it meant she could survive for a bit longer she was willing to let it slide. Mimi was artistic, straightforward, but intelligent. Her eyes glittered like a prism of intersecting colours beneath her bangs, and her hair, short and dark, was tied back neatly. She flexed muscled arms, healthy skin, and a flair for ingenuity. Immy narrowed her eyes. Sometimes she could not help but feel... jealous.

Mimi pulled her ear away from the wall and nodded to the door that Immy was stood against. "Definitely that one," she replied as she began walking towards her. In an instant, Immy pushed away the disloyal thoughts; continuing their journey through the Hotel. The lights flickered. They looked at these dismissively, and when the inhuman screaming got loud enough, they hopped in and out of the closets smoothly, avoiding the entity. After all, they were the OG Duo. The team. The people that everyone had looked up to. That was why they were here. To prove themselves.

Immy gripped the crucifix in her hand tightly. However confident they were, she could not shake off the growing unease. Mimi noticed this, but said nothing. She was thinking the same thing she was. "What if we get cornered? Or attacked?" Immy blurted. Her friend tilted her head. "We use our defences, of course."

She said it as if it was so easy, so easy to take on entities who could tear them limb from limb and puncture their hearts. Entities who could tear them to shreds and fracture their souls. Seeing the look on her friend's face, Mimi spoke again. "We just use what's important."

Immy looked at her. "And what exactly, is important?"

They gazed at each other for a long moment, and for the first time since she had shared that glance with Immy all that time ago back at home, Mimi smiled. She opened her palm, and from within it, a silver light began to glow. When she answered, her voice was a soft whisper.

"Magic."
