I could hear the pounding of the monster's feet on the ground. I was waiting for Cole to lead it to me so I could end its life. Waiting was my least favorite thing to do. Finally, I saw it come barrelling around a building. It noticed it was at a dead end. Then, its eyes fell on me.

"Hey, there," I said. The vampire's eyes about popped out of it's ugly face in surprise.

I charged at the creature and let my fist sink into its face. As it stumbled backwards, I swung my leg out and, and it connected with the back of its knee. The vampire fell on its back. Before he had a chance to think, I was on top of it with my knees pressing its arms into the ground. Anna was behind me and had the vampire's ankles in her hands.

Vampires are disgusting creatures. Their close to translucent skin is pulled tight over their bones, making them look like walking skeletons. If they had blood running through their body you would have been able to see their veins. Their eyes are completely black, even where the white should be. The fangs are so big they don't even fit in their mouth. Being around them made my stomach churn. I absolutley hated the living dead.

Looking at this vampire I could see it was a male. And, boy, he wasn't happy with me. I guess I wouldn't be, too, happy if I was about to die, either. He started to get so angry, he hissed. This always makes me chuckle.

"It doesn't matter how much you hiss, I'm still going to kill you," I sneered.

"What did I do?" Spit the vampire.

"It's always the same question. You, vampires, are really starting to bore me," I said.

"Hayden, we have to be back at the house in ten minutes," warned Angie.

I sighed. I started feeling around for the two perfect scars on the vampire's neck. When I felt the raised skin, I drew out my knife. Placing the tip of my blade to the scar I quickly stabbed him. This was the worst part. I always looked away before it died.

Anna and I stood up. I bent down and wiped my blade off in the grass. Cole walked up behind me and set the vampire on fire. Even though mortals know that we - Carriers - protect them from vampires and werewolves, they still don't like to see dead monsters lying around.

The four of us ran back to our car so we could get back to the Carrier's Community. When we were stepping up to the car I quickly snatched the keys out of Cole's pocket.

"I'm driving," I told Cole. Then he grabbed the keys right back.

"I don't think so. You, my friend, aren't even sixteen yet," he pointed out.

"I'm only a week away from turning sixteen."

"Then, you would still need to take a driving test to receive your license."

"Fine, but the day I get my license your hands are never touching that steering wheel again."

"I'd like to see you stop me."

"You know, it would be pretty hard to drive if I cut your hands off."

"Very funny," he smiled showing two perfect dimples on each side of his lips.

Cole was my first friend. We met when I came to the Carrier's Community. We were both four and he approached me because of the blue cast on my arm. He told me that blue was his favorite color, and that was my favorite color, too. Ever since then, we have been best friends.

The four of us jumped in our black, Lincoln Town Car. Angie, Cole's older sister, sat in the front next to Cole. Anna, Cole's younger sister, sat next to me in the back seat. I wasn't, too, happy about being shot down by Cole, and now Angie took the front seat away from me... great.

"I did pay for a fourth of this car," I stated.

"We all payed for a fourth of this car," said Angie.

"Can't I at least sit in the front?" I asked.

"No," Cole and Angie said together.

"Wow, that was creepy," I said, sitting back in my seat.

Looking around at my friends, I could see they were pretty bashed up. Anna, had a cut up her pale arm and her waist length pale blonde hair was spotted with blood. Angie, had a black eye and her curly, brown hair had fallen completely out of its pony tail. Cole's golden, blonde hair was plastered to his face with sweat and blood. I had a long gash across my cheek, but the rest of me was well put together. My long, black, wavy hair was still neatly pulled back from my face. My pale skin had very little damage done. For running into a vampire and two werewolves, I'd say I wasn't looking that bad.

We had finally come to a stop in front of the gated community that all Carriers in the Denver, Colorado area lived in. These communities are all over the world. Carriers protect mortals from vampires and werewolves by using kick butt fighting skills, and the four elements. We are called Carriers because we carry earth, wind, water, and air.

After Cole put in the code for the gates to our Community, we stared driving again. Driving down the single curvy rode that had houses, where Carriers live, all along it. Soon, we came to a stop in front of our house.

The house was just a regular two story brick house, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Four boys lived on the first floor, and four girls lived on the top floor. Anna and I shared a bedroom, and Angie shared one with another girl named Lily. Cole shared a room with his best guy friend, Matt. Then, there are two other other guys that share a bedroom next to Cole's; Alex and Max.

Anna jumped out of the car and yelled, "I call the shower first!" She has a light and airy voice to match her head full of air. She is a bit ditzy, but it works well for her.

"There are two showers in each bathroom," Angie stated. She has the typical oldest sibling attitude. She is very protective and acts like... an older sibling.

As we walked through the front door, Cole threw the keys on the table to the left of the door. Anna walked past Matt and said, "Hi," in a giggly voice. I forgot to mention she is the the most flirty fourteen year old I know.

"Hey, Anna," replied Matt.

"Ugh! It's pronounced Ah-na," she said annoyed. We all know Anna hates it when people pronounce her name wrong.

"You know I'm just teasing you," Matt got up from the couch and patted Anna's shoulder on his way to the fridge.

"Whatever, I'm taking a shower and then going to bed. Good night, everybody," said Anna. There was a chorus of good nights from the four of us. Soon, we were all showered and in bed.
