Chapter 1

"Orlen! Get out of the way!" Screamed Argon, as a fireball raced towards him landing inches from his face, he swiftly moved out of the way.

"Where the hell is Valn?!" Shouted Orlen, as he hit a fire demon with the golden part of his axe.

"He's finding a better vantage point!"

As Argon said this he dodged a swing of a fiery claw, spinning and then swinging his hammer across the side of its face.

"Come we need to push up, if we stay here much longer we'll be blown to bits." So they begin to walk up Argon swinging his hammer left and right dodging any attacks coming his way. Orlen however was taking a more elegant approach, parrying all the swipes and blind-less swings coming at him, and then chopping the various limbs that presented themselves. Both of them however dodging fireball after fireball, because up ahead was the queen, a fifteen foot tall black figure with various veins of fire and lava coursing through her. Raining down fireball after fireball over them and producing little man from her legs to attack Argon and Orlen. The three Dwarves only standing around four and a half feet tall where greatly disadvantaged, but it did not matter to them for this firedemon was terrorising one of the mines beneath The Golden Peaks and they had been sent down by King Thordinn to rid it from there home. They knew that all this killing of the queens minions was futile though for the queen could do this for years on end but the dwarves could probably only stand a few more hours before they'd eventually tire. That's why Valn had decided to work his way around, see the only way to kill a queen like this is too puncture her heart which is only accessible in the fleshy part of the back of her neck.

"Quick get behind something!" Orlen suddenly shouted,

As the queen took in what seemed to be a deep breath, she then let out an enormous jet of fire, luckily both dwarves had found cover behind an old mining cart. The intense heat burning their facial hair a little and making them wince as their metal mine cart started to heat up at an alarming rate. Finally it stopped, they then leapt out and proceeded to mow down demon after demon,

"Valn has to be in position by now," said Argon as he thrust his hammer through the chest of a demon.

"We'll have to just going and hope he gets his shit together soon," replied Orlen,

As if the Gods had decided for them, all of a sudden the Queen let out a shriek, swiping blindly at the back of her neck, revealing a broad four foot man with a long blonde beard and great bushy eyebrows. Holding what looked like some sort of miniature catapult in his hand bounding out of the way of her blind swipes at where he was just standing. With the queens back to Orlen and Argon they drew similar small catapults from their back, loading them up with small dented balls that hung from their waste. Drawing them back they both fired directly into the already damaged soft spot on the back of the queens neck, both hitting spot on, she kneeled over clutching the back of her neck, some of the fire coursing through her diminishing slightly. Suddenly, she peeled her hand off the ground, creating a massive fire ball as she did so, screeching and demon after demon started to come from the base of her,

"Valn!" Screamed Argon, "One more ought to do it, we'll keep her busy,"

And sure enough in the distance Valn could be seen running as fast as he could to another vantage point. Meanwhile, Argon and Orlen where once again fighting the demons but any chance they had they where firing their catapult at the queen, completely ineffective but they where just trying to keep all her attention towards them and away from Valn. She then again began to rise as if taking a deep breath in, instinctively the Dwarves darted fro the nearest bit of cover, Argon behind another old mine cart and Orlen hidden in an indent in the rocky chasm surrounding them. Suddenly, it stopped but it was odd, there was now no sound at all. Orlen looked out from his hiding spot to see, the queen was now slowly falling, the fire draining out of her and her skin becoming tougher looking and shell like. She landed with a thud on the ground, little bits of her molten snapping off. Behind her stood a raised catapult with a dwarf on the other end with a broad smile on his face.
