Chapter Fourteen: Peace at Last

 TWO WEEKS LATER

Kiara's POV:

The past two weeks have flown by. Thanks to Esme, I am all caught up in my classes. Luckily my injuries have all healed exceptionally well. I only have slight discomfort now. Except for my wrist, which is still very broken. Carlisle said it will probably take at least six weeks for it to heal fully. But this means that I can finally go back to school tomorrow. I'm scared though. Even if Isabella is gone, who's to say someone else won't decide to hate me and then attack me. I never really had the chance to meet anyone else besides the Cullens. Which I would never regret in my life, but I wish I had a chance to get to know my other classmates. However, I know the others are here if I need them. They'll help me hopefully get more comfortable around other people. Who knows, maybe Edward will find his mate soon. All of a sudden, Edward comes into my room. "Hi, I was hoping we could get to know each other. Emmett and Jasper are hunting. They'll be back later today." I smile softly at him. "Sure, Edward, why not." Edward led me downstairs and made me breakfast. The better part of the morning was spent asking questions about each other. After about three hours of questions, we decided to watch movies together. By the fifth movie, I was naturally exhausted. My head fell softly against Edward's shoulder as I drifted off to sleep. The last thing I remember is a blanket being draped over my shoulders and a kiss to my head. "Goodnight, sister."

Third Person POV:

Edward carefully picked her up as the door opened. Jasper and Emmett walk in and immediately stop. Edward reads their minds and immediately calms them. "Don't worry, brothers. We've been watching movies all day and she finally j7st fell asleep. I think she was trying to wait for you guys to get back and finally just succumbed to sleep.' Jasper smiles softly before taking his mate into his arms carefully. Emmett kisses her forehead. "Thank you, Edward." They both walk upstairs towards their shared room. Jasper carefully lays Kiara down on the bed before they climb in beside her. She tries to curl into both of them but settles for Emmett. Kiara practically climbs on top of him as her face burrows into his neck. Emmett chuckles as he pulls her closer. Jasper just ends up laying behind her with his arms around her waist. They both watch her sleep periodically throughout the night. Jasper also reads while Emmett quietly plays videogames on a gaming device. When morning comes, Kiara wakes up curled up next to Jasper. "Morning, little love. Emmett went to make breakfast for you. Alice has picked out an outfit for you already. Just get ready and come downstairs alright?" Jasper kissed her forehead before leaving her to get ready.

Kiara's POV:

After Jas left, I got in the shower. I braided my hair into two dutch braids before getting dressed into the outfit Alice chose for me. A simple pair of black leggings, a white tank crop top and an oversized black and red flannel. That probably belongs to Emmett. I put on a pair of black combat boots before going downstairs. Emmett and Jasper are both sitting in the kitchen waiting for me. A plate of eggs, bacon and toast is sitting in between them with a glass of orange juice. I smile softly as I kiss each of their cheeks. I eat slowly and carefully before Esme comes and takes the dishes out of my hands. I smile softly before following Jasper and Emmett outside. We decide to take Emmett's jeep. He helps me into the back before climbing up front. Rosie and Kieran join us before we head off. The ride to school fills me with anxiety as I grip Rosie's hand tightly. She smiles softly before speaking. "Don't worry, little sister. Isabella is no longer here to hurt you. And I won't let anyone else get even close to hurting you either. You have nothing to worry about, sorellina." I smile at the italian nickname as we arrive at the school. Jasper and Emmett both wait for me as we walk to our first period class. The entire class goes silent as we enter. I grip tightly to Jasper's arm as we head to our seats. A new girl sits in front of us now. She gives us a sweet smile as the class goes back to whatever they were doing. Jasper doesn't seem tense around her either. "Hi! My name is Maisie Williamson, I just moved here with my family. It's nice to finally meet you, I was sad to hear what that mean girl did to you. Let me know if I can help you with anything!" I almost cry when she offers her help. "Thank you so much, Maisie. My name is Kiara, this is Jasper and Emmett. Sit with us at lunch, I want to introduce you to my family." Jasper and Emmett both turn to me as I say this. Maisie smiles and agrees before turning to the front. "Don't worry, I have a feeling she will get along great with everyone. Including Edward." They both smirk before turning to the front. Class goes by as normal. Except the teacher makes it a point to apologize for what Isabella did. It makes me slightly uncomfortable as the attention is back on me. Maisie raises her hand quickly. "I have a question, Mr Morano." He quickly walks to her and I breathe a sigh of relief before leaving with Jasper and Emmett. We meet up with Alice for art class. This class goes by far too quick for me, as I love anything to do with art. We all walk to the cafeteria and meet with the others. I see Maisie walking towards us and wave her over. Edward tenses before relaxing and his eyes widen happily. "I knew it! Jassy, didn't I tell you guys?" Jasper kisses my forehead lovingly. "You sure did, darling." Emmett kisses my cheek. Maisie finally joins us. "Guys this is my new friend, Maisie. Maisie, this is my family. Rosalie and Kieran. Alice and Lucas. And of course, Edward." Maisie makes eye contact with Edward and blushes. "Hi, nice to meet you all." Everyone smiles happily as we all enter the cafeteria. Everyone looks towards us as we walk to our table. Emmett grabs me a tray while Jasper sits down and pulls me into his lap. Maisie and Edward are talking quietly amongst themselves. It's really cute to watch. Edward glances at me quickly with a small smile. I smile back before cuddling into Jasper. All of a sudden, a rock is thrown through the window behind us. I scream as Jasper quickly pulls me down and covers me from the glass. The rock lands on our table, with a note attached. "Santiago and Isabella may be dead, but we're still here." My eyes widen in fear. Jasper tightens his hold on me. Emmett sits next to us, pulling me closer to him. I'm trapped in between them as Maisie looks on in shock. Edward pulls her away, probably to explain what happened. Everyone decides to leave school early. On the drive back, Jasper and Emmett sit in the back with me while Kieran and Rosie sit up front. No one speaks as we enter the house. Carlisle and Esme come running and immediately know something happened. "What did the note say?" Carlisle questions as Esme smothers me with motherly hugs and kisses. Jasper and Emmet are both struggling to hold in their protective instincts, both understanding this is their mother. That she won't cause me any harm. Esme seems to notice their internal struggle as she kisses their cheeks before moving to stand by Carlisle. "Santiago and Isabella may be dead, but we're still here. That's all it said, no signature or scent." Edward speaks softly. "Edward, you also found your mate, right?" Edward nods softly before focusing on me. "It's okay, Eddie. You can be happy for a little bit. I'm not in immediate danger." I whisper softly knowing everyone can hear me perfectly. Jasper and Emmett both kiss my temples. "She's beautiful, Carlisle. Small, like Kiara, bright green eyes and long black hair. Tan skin and a beautiful smile. She made my undead heart flutter. I felt no bloodlust around her even though I needed to hunt. It was an amazing feeling. Her name is Maisie Williams. She just moved to Forks with her family." Carlisle smiles softly. Happy for his first son but also worried about the new impending danger. "That's wonderful, Edward. You deserve happiness after what Isabella did to you. As far as this new threat, I will inform Sam and the pack tomorrow. It's the weekend now so enjoy it while you can everyone." Everyone dispersed while we all thought of what's to come. Jasper carries me up to our room with Emmett following behind us. I change into one of Emmetts hoodies before climbing into bed. Jasper paces back and forth while Emmett pulls me to sit on his lap. His arms tighten around me as he growls in anger. Jasper stops pacing long enough to look at me and then continues pacing. But I realize something as he's pacing. He's not Jasper right now. "Major?  I'm safe, you've protected me. And I know you're angry, but I really wanna talk to Jasper right now. I promise you can come back out soon. But I really need Jasper right now." I watch as Jasper becomes less tense and his eyes go back to his normal golden color. "Thank you, little darling. I promise nothing will happen to you again." Jasper kisses my forehead gently as he joins Emmett and I. The three of us cuddle up on the bed as my eyes flutter. Both of them continue to kiss my head and run their fingers through my hair as I slowly fall asleep again. My mind continues to think of what's to come.
