Chapter dedication to Carin22
A new day, new boring things to learn. I am sick and tired of the same routine from Monday to Friday.
Why wouldn't everyday be a weekend?
The feeling of going back to schoolafter a sweet summer is like a knife through your chest but worse. I lay on the bed, the alarm still beeping. My body wasn't ready to leave the bed, I felt engaged to it.
My bedroom door swung open.
"Are you going to put that off?" My mom stood at the doorway, pointing at the alarm clock on my bedside table.
My mom is a blonde and has crystal blue eyes. She is a 5'9 tall curvey woman. She has shallow dimples whenever she smiles or laughs. I always admire her beauty and optimistic personality.
"Good morning to you too, mom." I said as I put off the alarm.
She rolled her eyes. "Get up. You have school to get to."
"Thanks for asking, am good. What about you?" I walked up to her.
She gave me the usual good-morning-hug and a peck on my cheek. My mom and I became closer after my dad walked out on us. It's a story I realy don't like thinking or talking about. He was cheating on my mom with his secretary and when mom found out, he decided to live with her. I think her name is Melina. Anyway, I really don't care. For a year and a half now, it has just been my mom, my brother and I. We are doing quite fine because my mom can support us. She is a nurse at a private hospital. Basically, we don't need him in our lives anymore.
Once my mom closed the door, I went to shower. I took the shortest time possible to get ready. I wore a plain and simple attire. A top and a pair of jeans with matching snickers. I put my hair in a neat bun then stared into my own dark eyes which looked like and endless pit. Mom often told me I got my eyes from dad. Right now, it is the only part of me I really wanna change.
I took my blue denim bag and trudged down the stairs. The sight that befell me made the hair on my nape stand erect.
My mom was frowning which was quite rare to be seen on her beautiful face. She was holding a sheet of paper and an empty envolope. Her hands were trembling.
"Mom relax." I patted her back. "Lemme see that please." I took the envelope first.
'To Samantha and Jason' It said.
I took the paper mom was holding and read aloud. "You are invited to Richard's and Melina's wedding on the nineteenth of September!" I yelled at the end.
"What the actual-"
"I know!" I exclaimed interrupting my brother, Jason.
"He is so like-"
"So true!"
"Sam I don't know about you, but I ain't going." Jason was standing my the island tossing an apple. He then took a bite and set it on the table.
"I am also not going."
I walked upto the island and sat on the stool. Jason's apple looked delicious so I took it.
"How would he do that after leaving us?" He was searching for something in the fridge. "Sam, let that apple go."
I slowly put the apple down, and I mean really slowly.
How did I know I had without looking?
Jason chuckled. "I sense that you had taken it."
I cocked my head to the right, studying my peculiar brother.
