Wilburs unexpected love story

chapter 3

The 4 days go by very slowly because Wilbur was so excited to see Jared again. Why was he so excited to see someone he barely knew? It was only for the kids, he kept telling himself.

He finally woke up, the day of the playdate. His heart was racing. He had to make a good first impression. Why does he care so much anyway? “Hey, Lai. Wake up. Jared will be here soon.” Laila complied, got dressed, and came to the table to eat some eggs made by Wilbur. At around 10:30 he heard a knock at the door. He opened and saw the tall man standing in front of it. They shook hands as a greeting and headed to the living room to watch the kids play. They were talking about normal stuff. Wilbur thought it was nice getting to know Jared.

"Uhh yeah so that's how I met Laila's mom" Wilbur said. "Oh that's neat, I didn't know you could meet surrogates like that." Jared replied. The kids have a total blast but eventually Jerry and Jared have to go home.

  "I-i had a lot of fun talking to you Jared I hope we can set up a another playdate soon" Wilbur said as they started to leave. "Umm, about that, I.. Was wondering if.. Maybe we could go out sometime? Without the kids?" Said Jared. Wilbur was flabbergasted and blushing a ton. 

Wilbur: "I-i-i  OF COURSE! yea haha what-what day?" 

Jared: "I was thinking November 22nd? " 

Wilbur: "yea sure!" 

Jared: "then it's a date :) " 

Jared smiled and left Wilbur sighed and plopped down on his couch, he squealed like a teen girl in excitement.

He waited about 3 weeks for this. Trying his best to think of a good gift for him. It was hard because they barely knew each other. He wanted this date to go perfectly, to make Jared like him. As he was laying in bed at night, he was thinking about it. Of course he was so excited over seeing him, he was falling in love with the older man. 

“Hey, How are you?” It was a message from Jared. 

“I'm good, wbu” Wilbur quickly responded.

“That's good, I can't really sleep right now.” Jared answered

“That sucks, I know that feeling.” Wilbur related 

“You want to call, if you're not busy?” Wilbur panicked, why did Jared want to talk to him? On a call too? 

“Uhm, Sure.”' Wilbur Didn’t mind this much, he was happy to spend any amount of time with him. 

He heard his phone ring and picked it up to hear the comforting voice of Jared. It made him feel better. They talked a while about random things, just basic things about their lives. It was nice, getting to know him. He was a bit sad when the call had to wrap up, but all good things have to come to an end at some point.When Jared fell asleep that night it was the best night of sleep he’d gotten in a long while.

“You must’ve been able to cure me of not being able to sleep, baby ;)” Jared said jokingly the next morning. Wilbur knew it was a joke but was still blushing hard. He then started to get ready for the day. He then remembers that today is date day. He finds his nicest clothes and puts them on. Around 9:30 he heads to the daycare to drop Laila off and heads to the coffee shop they agreed to meet at.

He'd arrived at the shop and found Jared sitting at a table with a drink. “There you are.” Jared said after noticing Wilbur's presence. He sat down across from Jared and started a conversation. Same stuff they were talking about on the phone. “This is kinda boring, want to do something else?” Jared commented. “Sure, why not? They ended up going back to Wilbur's house and they sat in the kitchen. “Your house is really well decorated, Wilbur.” Jared commented. “Oh, thanks. I've been slowly at it for years now.” Wilbur responded looking around the house. At some point though Jared had to go home. But before he actually left he pulled him in for a kiss. “I love you Wilbur.” Wilbur was shocked, his face was almost fully red from blush. “I-I, love you too, Jared.” Wilbur replied as soon as possible“I hope I see you again sometime soon.” Jared said walking out the door. 

He picked up Laila from daycare and went to sleep for the night.
