Running

The sun is shining through the trees and I'm standing in the middle of a clearing next to a lake that is fed by a creek within this picturesque forest. I've been trying to survive out here on my own for the last two months. It's not been easy to do as I have been fighting off rogue after rogue who think they can do whatever they want with me simply because I am a lone wolf.

It doesn't help that I am a female lone wolf, the only one around here that I have seen. I've stopped to get something to drink and to soak up the sun before I have to find shelter for the night. It's getting harder and harder to do, I need to try and find a human town so that way I can blend in and maybe get a job and then I can save up enough to leave this place and go somewhere else where no one knows me.

You see I'm only a lone wolf because my whole pack was destroyed by rogues. We were a really remote and isolated pack and we didn't really have any allies or anything like that, that I knew of anyway and my Father, the Alpha of my pack, sent me to try and get help from our nearest neighboring pack, but I didn't get far before we were all overwhelmed by rogues.

My parents told me to keep running until I got to a friendly pack and let everyone know that there was more rogues then we all thought and they are more organized than they should have been, even the ones who have been trying to attack me have been more organized and of their own minds than what I was always raised and trained to believe.

Now I just want to be somewhere, anywhere that I can finally be safe. I don't want to be on my own and I fear that I am running from, but I won't give up! An Alpha female never gives up! My parents would be so disappointed in me if I did that and I will do nothing short of making their memory proud.

I fill up the water bottle that I have and then I wash my hands in the cool water before I cup my hands and take sips straight from the lake, when suddenly I hear the crunch of twigs to my right. I quickly put my bottle away and then before I could be ambushed I took off running in the opposite direction of the noise, I looked over my shoulders to see a brown wolf emerging from the line of trees.

Right as I turn back to face forward I suddenly run into what feels like a brick wall. I gasp at the sudden shock and start to fall backwards until I feel strong warm arms wrap around me that send tingles throughout my body, confusing me as I have never felt that before, but I look up and lock onto the brightest ice blue eyes I have ever seen.

"Careful there little lady! Who are you and what are you doing in my territory?"

The owner of those ice blue eyes spoke in a deep gravelly tone that sent shivers of pleasure down my spine, while he had a serious look on his face, it wasn't unfriendly, more like reserved politeness. He had a bad boy look to him, but he was basically a mountain of a man with short dark hair, broad shoulders and a medium tan all over.

I shake my head as I answer defensively

"I...I...What? Who are you? And I didn't know that I was in anyone else's territory."

He lets out a slight growl, but the corners of his perfectly shaped lips quiver into the starts of a smirk

"I asked first so please answer my questions and then I'll answer yours."

I don't know why, but I just feel this draw to this big hulk of a man and that for the first time since my pack was destroyed and I had been forced to be a lone wolf that I finally felt an odd safety. I really didn't understand this feeling and I had to remind myself to be careful until he proved what his intentions were towards me as a lot of male rogues would want an alpha female to be their bed warmer and I wasn't going to let just anyone take me like that.

But at the same time I can't ignore the feeling that I could trust this man so being polite I answer truthfully

"My name is Emiline and I am from a remote pack that recently got destroyed by rogues and I have been running ever since to try and warn others of the rogue problem that is worse than anyone thought. I honestly don't know much about this area because of how remote we are so I really didn't know that I was in your territory, also I have been constantly attacked by rogues throughout the last two months I have been running, but if you take me to your Alpha then I can give my warning and be on my way."

He looked at me intensely and it was like he was looking right into my soul! After about two minutes he says

"You're looking at my Alpha and my men and I are out here because of reports of a rogue problem in this area, but I wasn't aware that there was a pack nearby. You're coming back with me to my pack house and then you can freshen up and maybe have a meal and then you can show us where your pack was and we can take things from there."

"No! I don't know you nor do I know if you will harm me or not if I go with you. I have only been running for two months now so my pack is probably quite far from wherever we are." I fired back at him in panic as I didn't want to go with strangers. He gives me a look that tells me he wasn't going to be taking no for an answer and that he didn't like his authority being questioned

"Well I wasn't asking if you wanted to come with me. I'm telling you that you're coming with me. Either you come without fuss and of your own accord or I will personally carry you there and I can sense your Alpha blood so you may not like the embarrassment of me doing that so I suggest you pick the first option."

I sigh at his words knowing that I didn't have a choice, but also feeling like I didn't actually care and that my wolf just wanted to rub all over this Alpha Male and that I would be willing to follow this man anywhere. This threw me for a second, but I see that he was letting me have the time to answer him and I was thankful about that as I was confused at my feelings and so I reply

"Fine, I'll go with you, but I warn you now that I will defend myself against anyone that tries to hurt me or do anything against my will. Is that understood?"

He smirks at me and then with humor in his tone he answers

"I wouldn't expect anything less from someone with Alpha blood, although an Alpha female isn't something that I have come across often. My name is Phoenix by the way and please know that if you harm me or anyone of my pack unjustly then you will be punished severely for it."

With that he turns and leads the way in the directions that I was running earlier and we make our way towards his pack now. Meeting up with a few others of his pack along the way.
