Hey, I know it's been a while but I'm extremely busy. I'm getting ready for my first final exam EVER really soon. And my god it's gunna be tough. So yeah. It's been hard to find time for the internet through the mountains of homework. I know, this chapter is a bit of a filler but more will happen soon, I swear. I'm just so flipping tired D=
So here it is. Enjoy. Oh and the picture is of Cam!
COMMENT. VOTE. FAN. It's really not too hard.
Chapter Three
Elissa's POV
Chapter three: The tears in your eyes
“Mom?” I say, tentatively, sitting up.
She sounds frantic as she says, “You’re uncle has had a stroke. Aunt Holly is taking him to the hospital now. We gotta go, c’mon, hurry.”
I’m bolt upright in a second, pulling some sweatpants over my pyjama shorts and a sweater over my shirt. I run to meet dad in the car. My flip-flops cause some trouble in running, but I’m fine. We make it to the hospital to find Aunt Holly sitting in the waiting room, trying her hardest not to cry. Mum grabs her in a hug and the two both start sobbing. I can’t help but tear up a bit myself.
I pull out my phone and see if Blaine or Cam is awake. I mean, it’s only one in the morning during spring break. Someone has to be up, right? I send them both extremely similar texts and sit back in a chair in the waiting room. We’re almost the only ones here. There’s a small boy sitting with what looks like his older sister. They both look worried and I can’t help but feel sorry for them.
My phone vibrates and it’s Cam. Her text reads: “Hey baby girl, what’s up?”
I reply. “My Uncle Brian had a stroke. I’m in the hospital.”
Just as a tall, pretty looking woman walks in, my phone goes off again. She has brown hair tied up in a ponytail and she wears glasses. She looks young. I ignore my phone as my mum and aunt grab each other’s hands. She smiles and announces that Uncle Brian will probably be fine. We all breathe sighs of relief and smile at each other.
Once the doctor returned to treating Uncle Brian, I check my cell. Cam has texted me back. She said: “Oh no! Text me with updates. Or maybe I’ll hire someone to kill you.”
“Of course I will, why wouldn’t I? Oh, really? Who?” I reply.
“I don’t know. Maybe Hunter.”
“Hunter who?”
“Hunter, my new boyfriend, Hunter.”
“WHAT.”
“Oh yeah. He asked me out.”
I sigh and get back to thinking about things. I think about Blaine as I look over at Aunt Holly. She’s still crying a bit and I can’t help but feel sorry for her. If a boy I loved was in the hospital with something horrible like this, I’d be even more broken up. I’d probably be bawling into Cam’s shoulder. The doctor comes back nearly twenty minutes later when Cam has said that she was falling asleep and needed to go.
The doctor introduced herself to us as Dr Michelle Chase. We followed her into a quiet, chemical smelling room. Uncle Brian lied on a slightly elevated bed. He had IV’s in his arm, a heart monitor connected to his chest. He looks peaceful. Aunt Holly sniffs loudly and dabs at her eyes with her damp tissue. Mum grabs her hand. Dad turns to me and asks me if I could run down to the lobby and grab some more tissues. I nod and I start down the hall. I’m in the elevator, checking my phone for the time. I get out of the elevator and head to the lobby. I see a Kleenex sitting there, looking pretty.
