Vanessa can't be dead, can she?

Her rosy cheeks looked so pale now as she lay unconscious, the only machine keeping her alive was buzzing next to me, letting out air again and again. I couldn't lose her after what she did for Abby, what she did for me, even.

Sure, she kept a lot of secrets from us but in the end, she stood up for what is right, against her own father.

I can only imagine the pain she had to endure as a kid. The tragedy of being the daughter of a killer who murdered innocent children in the 80s surely didn't have a very good effect on her mental health, I could only dream that she'd have to keep these dark and mysterious secrets kept hidden away. Alas, she kept the secret of my dear brother being snatched and most likely shoved into an empty suit, leaving his spirit to be wrecked with, oozing out hatred towards the man that took his life away, William Afton.

I checked my watch after gazing at Vanessa's motionless face, of course, I had out-welcomed my stay and managed to be late for picking Abby up from school.

Rushing in whilst yanking my jacket on, I shoved my way past other parents and finally made my way to the door of Abby's classroom. I licked my finger and slicked back my messy hair a little before knocking and hearing a small 'enter' from the other side.

"Look, I'm so sor-" I explained, furrowing my eyebrows before noticing Abby sat drawing at a little table with her teacher smiling on the opposite side.

"Mike, it's all good. Abby here was just drawing some funky doodles." She said, gesturing to have a look. Her brown eyes following my every move as I walked over to my not-so impressed sister.

"You're late." She said, pointing her tongue out at me, scribbling onto the paper with crayons.

I scratched the back of my neck nervously, "Ah, sorry Abs. I went to go visit Vanessa."

She nodded before standing up abruptly and skipping over to the door with her backpack already on. I quipped an eyebrow at her and looked over to the teacher who smiled and waved goodbye to Abby.

"Well, come on. I want spaghetti and pizza when we get home."

I sighed.

Pizza and spaghetti? This kid was mad.

As we got into the door and shoved all our belongings onto the floor, Abby rushed away to her room, probably to see her imaginary friend or to draw even more drawings and stick them onto the already crowded wall she has.

I began making food, wondering if Vanessa was okay. Is it strange to say that I miss her? Her company was somewhat relieving if I forget all about the lies and trouble she caused. She always brought a smile to the room and Abby seemed to love her from the moment they met, almost as much as she loved those strange robots that could move.

Bizarre.

"Hey Abs, food's ready. Come get yer grub!" I yelled, dishing up the food onto some plates, instantly hearing the soft footsteps grow closer.

I handed the eager little gremlin her food, as she stuffed it down her face at the dinner table. The amount of food on her plate was sure to give anyone a heart attack just by looking at it, but if Abby was happy and content, then so was I.

I just hope Vanessa wakes up soon.
