This story is still in its beginning stages and input would be very much welcomed.

Prologue:

The Hitchhiker:

Ross couldn't sleep, so he thought a bit of a drive through town would do him some good and aid in his restlessness.  As Ross drove through town, he saw a figure holding up a thumb. "Ah, another hitchhiker," he said to himself as curiosity burned through his thoughts. There were rarely any hitchhikers in his town, and seeing one was quite the change.  Ross neared the figure and soon began to realize that it was in fact a female standing on the side of the road. She was the most visually stiking thing Ross had ever seen in a long time.  Everything about her was perfect. From her long Auburn hair, to her captivating oval brown eyes. She simply exuded youth and sensuality. Ross saw his opportunity. He could take this woman in the guise of trying to be a good citizen.

"Hey, do you need any help?" Ross asked as he neared the beautifully clad figure.

"Yeah, I seem to be lost, do you happen to know where Alan's Cross is?" she said as she massaged her temple in frustration.  Alan's Cross used to be an old diner on the outskirts of town, but it closed down a week after its owner, Alan, died.

"I'm sorry, but Alan's Cross doesn't exist anymore," Ross replied as he watched her facial expression drop "Do you have anywhere else to go?" Ross already knew the answer to that question, but he had to be nice.

She seemed to be going through some internal struggle before finally telling Ross she has nowhere else to go.  Gotcha, Ross thought to himself, things were going in the direction he was hoping.

"You could spend the night at my house, if you want...I have a spare room," he said with the most innocent look he could conjure in a such a short amount of time.

After what seemed like forever, she ultimately agreed to take Ross' offer. Once she got into the car, Ross flashed a smile, but there was a threatening air to the way he delivered that smile. She didn't quite know what to make of it, but before her thoughts could go any further, Ross interrupted them.

"What's your name?", he asked her as he looked straight ahead at the road.

"Um, it's Katherine, what's yours?"

"That's a pretty name" Ross said as he continued looking ahead at the road, "My name is Josh"

"Oh cool, nice to meet you," Katherine said.  Both Josh and Katherine remained silent for the duration of the ride.
