I walk to class minding my own business when a tall black haired man bumped into me making me drop my books "oh um sorry" we both say at the same time. We both lean down to pick up the books our hand slightly loped past one another's "oh I-I I'm mat I'm a first year" "my names Charlotte I'm a first year as well funny enough,I'm going to be late to my class I hope to see you around, mat" I say slightly awkward "I hope to see you around too" I got the feelings of butterflies in my stomach but I couldn't feel that way about someone else because I'm dating someone.My phone suddenly started to ring I was on my way to class so I was surprised it was Danny(my boyfriend) I pick up my phone "hi danny I'm going to be late to class what's wrong??" "Nothing I'm just missing you Charlotte we haven't seen each other for nearly over a year" "yes,yes I know but I really must go love you dan" "love you too Charlotte" it was weird because I don't get butterflies when I talk to my own boyfriend.I made my way to my class and there he was again mat and the only seat left was next go him i was strangely excited but nervous that he forgot who I was or didn't remember my name but the second he saw me he shouted "Charlotte come sit next to me" I was so surprised he wanted me to sit next to him but I willingly did "hey Mat I didn't realise we were in the same lecture" I said to him as I took my laptop and iPad out of my bag "me neither it's a good surprise for me we get to know each other better now" he said as he typed down his notes on his laptop "yeah we can,odd question but do you want to go to the cafe with me after this lecture if you don't have anything else to do" I said looking to the ground slightly blushing "yeah of course I would love to char, you don't mind me calling you that do you?" "No,no of course I love it my mum used to call me it when I was little" I say. I start to think to myself about how my mum used to call me it before she passed away how much I loved it and how much I loved her I miss her dearly and how when mat called me it felt right,but if Danny were to call me it I wouldn't feel as comfortable as mat calling me it.

(TIME SKIP TO THE END OF CLASS)

"I mean not the most boring lesson ever" Mat says getting up and packing is things away "I agree" as mat sticks out a hand to help me up I take it as I stand up we become face to face our faces inches from one another's "um we should head to the cafe before it closes" I fill in the awkward silence between us.As we leave the lecture hall door we make our way to the cafe "what cafe are we going to char you never told me" mat says walking along side me "it's my favourite cafe I used to go there all the time with my mum and dad when I was a kid I still go now it's here " the sign read Betty's Riverside café. Mat opened the door for me "ladies first" he said opening the door for me "why thank you" I walked in and sat in a little booth in the corner of the cafe "oh hello Charlotte haven't seen you in a while how are you and your dad keeping up?" Molly the old lady who has worked here since I was a little girl asked me "we are holding up how are you and daisy now days?" Daisy was mollys dog a gorgeous sheep dog brown and white "we are great, I see you have brought a friend along with you today, and who might you be my boy" molly said to mat "I'm mat Charlottes friend we met today when we accidentally bumped into each other" "oh how charming that's how I met my late husband what might you want lovey?" "A ice latte with 2 shots of espresso please" "okay that will be done in a minute darlings". Matt looked at me confused for a second "molly said you and your dad I thought you and your mum used to come here as well" "oh yeah sorry for not telling you,she passed away from cancer a year ago" I look down at me shoes "oh I'm so sorry char, i shouldn't have asked" "no,no it's fine I don't mind it's nice talking about her it's like she is still here now" I say with a smile on my face. Me and mats drinks arrive with a cake on the side "I didn't order any cake?" Mat say's confused "no,no they always give me a free cake when I come it's a little thank you from them to me to still coming" "oh that's cute of them" "yeah it is I guess,want to take our drinks to go??" "Sure but I really have to head home in a minute" "me too,I will see you tomorrow" "okay my char" mat leans in to hug me I lean in too it felt nice I have never felt like my soul was connected to someone so well before. Me and mat head our separate ways to our house on my way home I think about how nice and sweet mat is but I think I might be falling for him I know I have only known him for a day but I can't fall for someone when I already have a loving boyfriend"
