Bailey(Fred)'s POV
Once we got in, the emergency room was empty. We walk over to the desk to get Megan help. The lady their was nice and quickly called someone out to get Megan. While they took her, me and Colt had to stay in the waiting room. After about 5 minutes of complete silence, a male doctor came out and asked us to follow him. So we stood up and followed him to what looked like his office. Once we got inside, he asked us to sit in the chairs opposite of his. He started to ask us questions about if Megan had been in this hospital for treatments yet or not? And things in that nature. I was able to answer all of them except a few that only her parents where allowed to answer. And if he would have asked I probably could have. We are super close. After that he asked questions more on Megan's current health and what they might want to look for as to diagnostics. So I said, "she won't eat much lately, she has had issues with low blood sugar, and I think she at the least slightly depressed but I'm not sure on that." The doctor thanked us and sent us back to the waiting room. While we walked there me and Colt talked about the situation and how the hell we are going to explain this to her parents without lying but still couldn't tell them everything. If we did Megan would skin us alive.
So oncewe sat down I pulled my iPhone 5 out of my pocket and called Megan's parents. I called her Mom first. It was still only 3:20 so she would have enough time for her to get the kids. She would be the easiest to tell.
"Hello Bailey, what's up?"
"Hey. Um... I have some news you need to hear. Where are you at?"
"I'm parked at Skyline waiting to get the kids. Why? What's going on?"
"I was making sure you where not driving. Megan passed out after school around 3pm. She has not come out of unconsciousness yet. So we took her to the hospital. I filled out all the papers and left the questions that I didn't know or that had to have your answer. She is in a room now and they are trying to diagnose her. I'll call you if we get answers before you get here. If you would like I can call Randy. But I'm sure how he will take it heating it from me."
"Oh my God! I'll call Randy. Don't worry about it Bailey. I'll get the kids and be there in around 30 minutes. I'm not going to check the kids out. And I'll pick him up on the way."
"Ok. I'll see you then. The doctor said it's a coma at worst, but they aren't completely sure yet."
"Ok Bailey, thanks. I'll be there in a bit. Bye."
"Bye Jill. See you then. Drive safe."
Once she hung up, I turned to Colt. "It sounded like she took it well." He said cautiously. "yeah she did." Then a thought occurred to me, "Colt! Megan's parents are going to flip seeing you and heating your explanation!" He just shook his head, "I'm not going to hide from her parents. That will only make things worse. And I'm the one who drove her here, they can't be that bad. Right?" "Yeah, I guess. But still. Her Dad is seriously protective of his 'little' girl. You will probably be put through interrogation." "I understand that. And I'm willing to go through it. I really like her. And if I can get her parents to 'ok' me then it should be easier to convince her to give me a chance." "True. Although she is gonna anyway." "What do you mean?" "She really likes you too. She is just scared of someone actually being there and then them running off. She thinks that if she let's someone in and gets close to them, then they will leave." "Well you stayed. You guess seem uber close." "I'm moving soon. And she thinks that I'm just going to drop her like a rock and just leave her." "Oh. Well I'm not that kind of guy. Has a guy ever hurt her or something to make her think that?" "No. She has never had a boyfriend. Her first crush didn't last a week. And if she likes a guy she hides it. Even from herself.". Colt was just about to answer, but the doctor walked out right at that moment. So we both jumped up and met him in the middle in the middle of the room. "She is in a coma, she may not come out for a week or longer. Her body has been starved for at the least 3 days, but assume more, with maybe a small dinner every day to keep her body simi-working. We are trying to get her body to take the food but we are going to have to work her body into eating more and more at once. If we do too much though, her body will revolt and just quit eating at all for a while, so it will pretty much just shut down again but worse. You where right about the low blood sugar. Getting food in her body will help stabilize that. Also we found she has bruises all up and down her legs and a few on her arms. We have her a few pain killers for those and the other injuries. Her ankle is fractured. We corrected it and put it in a cast. She should be in it for about a month or more. Her left wrist is badly injured. It looks like an impact sprain but it looks like it has been injured before so it is majorly worse than it would be. We found a position that it won't give her constant pain and put a cast on it also. Do you have an idea of how she got the injuries?" I all most collapsed. She had been walking fine all day and I watched her use her left wrist. She didn't wince once. "I was rough housing with her and bumped her with my hip, she ended up falling into a 1 foot deep pit in our school. That's how she got the latest wrist and ankle injuries. The bruises, I don't know. But I have an idea. But I'm gonna need her permission to tell you." "Ok that seems to line up right. I'll take you all to her room now. We went ahead and got her a real room. She is going to be here a while."
