Prompt 1
A little girl watched a young boy skeptically. "Are you sure you know how to sword fight?"
"I swear on the life of my grandma," the boy replied.
"Your grandma died like a million years ago, Perfidus," the girl argued.
Perfidus stamped his foot. "No she didn't! It was like only a thousand years ago. And I ment my other grandma, Koa!"
Koa rolled her eyes. "You don't even now if she's alive."
"Fine, I swear on your life."
"Great, now teach me how to sword fight!" Koa said eagerly.
The two were about to rush outside when Koa's teary-eyed mother stopped them. "Children, we're at a funeral for Perfidus's poor grandmother who most certainly did not die a million or a thousand years ago. There will me no sword fighting."
Perfidus sighed. "Guess that's it then."
"No way! I'm sneaking outside. Are you coming or not?" Koa demanded.
"Sir, yes sir!" Perfidus saluted and they both ran outside into adventure.

Kao was laying down on a bench when Perfidus bounded up. "Hey, so get this! I beat the crap out of Amaury today!"
Kao quickly sat up, closing her book. "Really? That's amazing! You're getting better at sword fighting every day!"
Perfidus blushed at the compliment. "You're giving me too much credit. You're the one that's taught me every new move you invented. Speaking of, how's your training going?"
Kao rolled her eyes. "Mother wants to teach me about being a lady in court. Little does she know what I hide in the books she gives me."
"You're going to do great things in life, Kaolin Sigrid Carina."
"You too, Perfidus Ezra Catullus."
Kao and Perfidus smiled at each other before looking away and blushing.
"I should go now," Kao said. "See you tomorrow!"
"See you too!" Perfidus replied before she left.

Kao smiled when she saw Perfidus, but he didn't return it. "What's wrong?"
Perfidus tried to smile. "Nothing. My mom's just getting worse."
"Oh, Per, I'm so sorry," Kao apologized and hugged him. "Do you think she'll get better?"
He shook his head. "I don't believe so. She's had it for too long."
"Just remember, I'll be there for you," Kao reassured.

Perfidus stood near his mother's grave accepting people's apologies about her passing. Soon it came to Kao.
"How are you?" she asked.
Perfidus took in a deep breath before he spoke again to stop from crying. "Not good if I'm being honest."
"Here." Kao shoved a bouquet of flowers into his arms. "There for your mom's grave."
"Kao, you don't have to do that," Perfidus disagreed.
