"Shit! GO DUDE!"

"Where am I supposed to go!?"

"SOMEWHERE! JUST RUN!"

The air was thick with tension as Colby and Sam sprinted through the abandoned lot, the urgency in their movements betraying the anxiety that fueled their escape. Shadows danced across the old buildings as the pair weaved between them, desperately searching for an exit. Their breaths quickened, synchronized beats.

As they stopped on the side of a building they both hunched and caught their breath against the wall.

"Jesus christ, they're at every exit."

"What do we do?! We can't go to jail... again!"

Colby crouched down, he ran his hand across his face as he thought about a course of action, "What about that building, the one with like a fuck ton of rooms." He motioned to his right, the building loomed in the distance.

"We'd have to run like hell to get there without them seeing us," Sam observed, scanning their surroundings for their two missing companions, Corey and Elton. "Did the boys ditch us?"

"Probably, but they can text us when they're gone. Are you ready to sprint?" Colby looked up at him.

"Let's go, bro."

In a synchronized burst of movement, they positioned themselves and, with a silent countdown, tore across the dirt field they had explored earlier. The flashlight beams of their pursuers caught them, casting fleeting shadows as they reached the building's door frame. Colby was about to head for the bottom floor when Sam grabbed his arm, pulling him up the decaying stairs. A surge of electricity passed through Colby at the touch.

They circled the upper floor, searching for hiding spots, and slipped into an open, smaller closet when the officers entered downstairs. The door clicked shut behind them, and they held their breath as the officers passed through the upstairs. Colby and Sam huddled in the confined space, their chests almost pressed together. Sam raised a finger to his lips, a silent plea for silence, as the footsteps of their pursuers echoed through the building.

When the officers seemed to have moved on, the boys let out a relieved sigh. But their relief was short-lived as one of the officers tried the closet door. Panic set in as they held their breath, awaiting arrest. To their surprise, the door was locked, and the officers assumed it had always been closed, returning to the lower level.
After a few minutes Sam hesitantly reached for the knob, turning it, but to their dismay it was locked from both sides. Colby frustratedly combed his hands through his hair.

"No way. If I die in here bro I'm fucking haunting this place." He shoved Sam out of the way and tugged on it dramatically. The blonde blushed lightly, getting slightly flustered when his counterpoint got upset. "God dammit." He leaned his back against it and slid down to a sitting position.

Sam crossed his arms and leaned on the wall parallel to his. The room was small, but it was longer than it was wide, so they comfortably sit across from each other. "Don't freak out, we'll call Elton and he'll come get us." He pulled his phone from his pocket and called their friend.

"Alright, thanks... Yeah, have fun." He hung up and slid his phone into his back pocket. "The cops are still here, they have to wait until they're gone to sneak back in." Sam sighed and leaned his head back against the wall. Colby glanced at him, admiring his silhouette.

"At least we're together" He let out a small laugh, making sure he didn't seem too excited. "No one better to be stuck in a small space. Don't take up much room."

"Fuck you, you're smaller than me!" Sam looked down at him and giggled. Colby shook his hand to say not really. They both smiled.
