The moon hung low in the ink-black sky, casting an eerie glow over the ancient trees that surrounded Jack Thornton's secluded cottage. A sense of foreboding lingered in the air as the clock struck midnight, heralding the arrival of Jack's twenty-first birthday and the dreaded curse that had haunted his bloodline for generations. In the dim light of his room, beads of sweat formed on Jack's forehead as an otherworldly force began to surge through his veins.

Emily, Jack's lifelong friend, waited anxiously in the living room below. The air was thick with tension, and she couldn't shake the feeling that their lives were about to change forever. Suddenly, a guttural howl echoed through the night, causing Emily to jump to her feet. The time had come.

Upstairs, Jack's body convulsed in agony as bones shifted and muscles contorted. The pain was beyond anything he had ever imagined. He clutched his chest, feeling the wild, untamed power coursing through him. Shadows danced across the walls as the room seemed to close in around him.

"Jack!" Emily called, pounding on his bedroom door. "Are you alright? What's happening?"

Jack's voice, now strained and guttural, resonated through the door. "Stay back, Emily! It's happening, and I can't control it!"

In the midst of Jack's transformation, the door burst open, revealing a figure cloaked in darkness. The Lunar Nexus had arrived, their faces obscured by sleek masks that gleamed with an otherworldly light. Without hesitation, they advanced towards the writhing Jack.

"Subject is entering phase one," a cold, metallic voice emanated from one of the masked figures. "Prepare the serum for injection."

Emily, wide-eyed and trembling, watched as The Lunar Nexus produced a syringe filled with an iridescent liquid. Before she could protest, one of the figures grabbed her, holding her back. "It's for his own good," they muttered, their voice muffled by the mask.

As Jack's transformation reached its peak, The Lunar Nexus injected the serum into his quivering form. The liquid glowed as it mingled with his blood, creating an ethereal dance of light beneath his skin. Jack's howls transformed into an agonized roar, but gradually, the violent convulsions subsided, and a strange calm settled over the room.

The Lunar Nexus observed the results with clinical detachment, their masks betraying no emotion. One of them approached Jack, who now lay motionless on the floor, his breaths heavy and labored.

"Subject stabilized," the metallic voice reported. "AI integration successful."

The masked figures retreated, leaving Emily to rush to Jack's side. She found him lying there, his eyes glazed over, as if awakening from a deep and unsettling dream.

"Jack, can you hear me?" Emily whispered, her concern etched across her face.

His eyes flickered, and he slowly sat up, the room still spinning around him. "What... What happened?"

"The Lunar Nexus," Emily explained, her voice hushed. "They injected you with something. You're different now, Jack."

He glanced at his hands, noticing the subtle glow emanating from his skin. "Different how?"

"I don't know," Emily admitted, her gaze wary. "But we'll figure this out together."

As the moon cast its waning light upon the small cottage, Jack and Emily were left to grapple with the consequences of the night's events. The integration of AI and the supernatural had taken root within Jack, a fusion of technology and ancient curse that would shape the destiny of Evercrest and beyond. The Lunar Nexus had set in motion a chain of events that would propel Jack into a world where the boundaries between man and machine, human and beast, were destined to blur.
