Y/n sat alone at a table for two, fidgeting with the corner of the white tablecloth. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and glanced around the restaurant. Couples and groups laughed and talked over the dim lighting of the intimate space.
Checking her phone, Y/n sighed. He was fifteen minutes late now. She debated just leaving but didn't want to give up on their first date so quickly.
As she weighed her options, movement caught her eye. A man strode through the front door, stopping to talk to the hostess. He had wavy white hair and sharp features. The hostess pointed toward y/n's table and the man nodded, smiling.
y/n felt her breath catch as he walked over. She stood up nervous but giddy.
"Hi, you must be y/n?" he said, leaning in for a gentle hug. His cologne smelled like cedar and mint. "I'm wakasa imaushi. Sorry I'm late, work was crazy."
"That's okay, I haven't been waiting long," y/n lied with a grin.
The conversation flowed easily once the initial awkwardness faded. Wakasa told stories that made y/n laugh out loud, and he seemed genuinely interested as she talked about her job and hobbies. Throughout dinner, y/n felt her heart beat faster whenever his arm would graze against hers reaching for his drink, or when their knees bumped under the small table.
After Wakasa insisted on walking her home, they stopped at y/n's door. She held his hands loosely, taking in his bright eyes and warm smile.
"I had a great time tonight," Wakasa said.
"Me too." y/n's voice came out soft and a little shaky.
wakasa leaned down and kissed her gently. y/n closed her eyes, sparks flying as she kissed him back under the moonlight.
