Bakugou's POV
I wake up feeling well rested, it has been a while since I have been able to sleep this peacefully. I walk to the mouth of the cave, "Oi, Deku, you look like shit. I'll take watch. Go rest." He sighs
"I can't sleep... I'll stay up."
"No. You're no use if you're tired. We don't need to die because you couldn't get your ass to bed."
"I know- I know. It's not like I haven't slept at all-"
"Just shut up and try to sleep, alright?"
"Fine..." He turns around and starts to walk farther into the cave. He pauses and looks back at me "They are still there..."
"What..?" I say barely above a whisper. Deku says nothing and just lays down beside half n' half. I look out at the ground below us and as much as I hate to admit it the nerd was right. We are to far away to actually see the detailing of the person, the only thing we know is they have bright, faded, red hair.
There are thankfully less zombies than before, I guess most of them gave up. There is still a small hoard clawing at the base of the tree but compared to what we saw yesterday that isn't to bad. I wonder.. do they have anyone waiting for them.... or are they alone? As much as I hate to admit it I might be dead if it weren't for Deku and Half n' half. I couldn't imagine doing this alone.
It doesn't matter.
They just need to leave.
We can't take care of someone else.
I sigh pulling out a knife, this baby has gotten out of some tough situations, unfortunately it is becoming quite dull. I need to sharpen it soon. I glance back out at the blurry red figure. I can't help but wonder,
are they really worth the risk?
'Blurry red head's' (Idc if you know who this is I am keeping the mystery.) POV
Everything is spinning. Why is everything spinning? That can't be good. My breathing is ragged and uneven. What is this odd, wet, feeling on my hands? I glance down to see a sticky red substance coating my hands. Where is the blood coming from? I lift my hands up examining them, they have a few scratches on them but not enough to create this much blood. I look down to see my shirt drenched in blood. It seems I have found the problem. Stupid zombies...
I struggle to keep my eyes awake. I can't sleep, if I close my eyes now I might never open them. I wrap my arms tightly around a tree branch as I feel myself start to slip. The shift sends pain shooting from my abdomen. I wince, letting out a yelp, writhing in pain. I need to just hang on a little longer... just a little longer...
I can still hear the zombies clawing at the trunk of the tree, man, they are persistent. I risk a glance down at my belt, I still have my gun... if I could just...
I slowly unwrap one of my arms reaching for my gun.
CRACK
Shit.
I quickly move my arm back hanging on for dear life. I watch as the branch I was sitting on plummets to the ground below. This is not good. I feel a sharp pain shoot up my leg, I move my leg just as a zombie tries to swipe at me again. All this bleeding can't be good for my health.
I find some footing and slowly climb higher. Once I finally find a secure enough branch I sit down. I cling onto onto another nearby, also sturdy looking, branch, just in case.
This is fine.
I pinch my arm to keep myself awake, if I sleep I die.
I can't help but be aware of the blood gushing from my abdomen. I decide to take another risk, I let go of the branch for a second. I take my jacket off and tie it around my wound, I have no intention of bleeding out.
I pull my leg up, my whole body screams in agony as I do so, examining the gash that zombie left when I almost fell. Blood drips down my leg mixing with dirt and the black blood of zombies that covers me as it flows down my leg. In order to calm my breathing I focus on the soft patter of blood,
Drip
Drip
Drip
The clawing stops for a moment. I relax slightly hoping they left. I look down. I let out sigh,
still there.
They look up at me, hunger evident in their eyes. My blood dripping on their faces. They start clawing faster, more desperate than before. I bet they haven't had a meal in days...
If they start working together...
I'm screwed.
No, I can't think like this. I'll make it.
There is already much less than yesterday, if I just wait a few days they should be gone.
Can I last a few days?
How did I even make it up this tree? I remember running for what must have been hours unable to lose them.. then...
gunshots.
Were they helping me? That makes no sense... why... whoever it was gave me enough cover to climb up this tree. If it weren't for them I might still be running or... dead. I wonder, are they still here? I look around taking in my surroundings. I notice a cave not that far away, it would be a far run but still not a bad commute. Once these zombies leave that would be a good place to lay low, I am in no condition to make a run for it now, I have to wait.
Wait, what is that?
A see a flash of blonde out peripheral vision.
Who...?
I shake my head trying to clear my blurry vision, I only make it worse. Purple spots dance around my vision.
Could I be hallucinating?
I open my mouth attempting to call out to them. I don't care if I attract more zombies at this point, I don't care if they could kill me just..
Help...
Anyone.
Please.
