I knew I had to study for the Chūnin exam, but I couldn't help myself wandering of to my drawing. I loved drawing different creatures I could see out side of our village when I sneaked out at nights.

"Aiko! Momma wants you to go to her office!" It was my younger sister, Harumiko.

"I'll be on my way!" I put away my drawing pad and pen and I made my way to my mothers office, on the way there, I walked past Shiori.

"Oi, shouldn't you be studying!" She said teasingly but I gave her polite smile and kept walking.

"Hey! Don't ignore me you idiot!" She kept shouting at me. The truth was, I've already paid my attention to her long ago.

As I arrived at the office, my mother gave me a small box.

"Open it. I'm sure you love it." My mom told me with a smile on her face, so I opened the tiny box and it contained my old bead that I used as a hair tie when I was younger, and had longer hair.

"H-how did you find it?" I was shocked, as I remembered the bead being shattered underneath a big boulder.

"Our explorer-nin had found it at the deepest part of the mountain. They recognized it was yours and sent it for reparation right away." My mother explained as I turned my gaze to her. I was surprised that they remembered the item, as it was a long while since I lost it.

I looked back at the bead and started to feel a mix of emotions. I was happy that my prized possession was repaired, but I was also sad as I also thought about my dad, he was the one who gave me the bead.

"You still miss him?" She asked suddenly and I shook my head.

"No. he was the one who left us after all." I said as I closed the lid to the box.

"But thank you so much. Was there anything else you wanted to tell me?" I asked and she wrapped her arms around me in comforting embrace.

"Good luck with your exam, Sweetie." I hugged her back and assured her that I would ace it.

As I got home to my room, I found a beautiful silver chain on my bed.

"Harumiko! Did you give me the necklace?" My sister came in and saw the necklace with a confused look.

"No? I haven't seen it before, but it's really pretty!" I assumed that someone had sneaked in to my room and left it here.

I took out the bead from the box I had in my pocket, and put the bead on the silver chain. I put it on and turned to my younger sister who smiled brightly.

"Now it's even prettier!"

After calling it a day, and waited for my family to fall asleep, I sneaked out of the house as usual and wandered around the village. When I got close to the training grounds, I could hear somebody fighting so I got curious of who would train in the middle of the night before the exam.

I arrived at the training ground but I remain hidden. As I examined the area, I saw Shiori and Hitoshi sparring, and Talia standing on the side watching them.

"Stop being so defensive Shiori!" Said Talia strictly as Shiori got a couple of hits while trying to protect herself.

"Yeah right! You never succeed the exam if you're gonna be a pussy!" Said Hitoshi and landed a final kick that made Shiori fall to the ground.

"This is pathetic, you never learn.." Talia's tone was cold, she looked disappointed at Shiori as she received more beat down from Hitoshi than it was necessary.

"Hey! That's enough!" I approached them and Hitoshi stopped beating Shiori.

"Well look what we got. The village's princess." Said Talia and walked towards me.

"It's not fair that you abuse her the night before our important exam."

"We are training, and I don't like that you're interfere.."

"And I don't like that you hurt her." 'Chidori' appeared on my left palm and Hitoshi grabbed Talia by the arm.

"She is serious. We should leave." He suggested but Talia kept staring at me before turning around and leave with Hitoshi.

I walked to Shiori who was coughing out blood.

"I take you to the hospital" I said and tried to lift her up but she pushed me away.

"No! I'm fine, I can take care of myself."

"Not in this state, and you don't know medical ninjutsu either!" I grabbed her shoulder so she would look at me and she did, then she looked at my necklace.

"What an ugly jewelry!" She pushed me away again and dashed away from the place.

I sighed for myself knowing I wouldn't be able to do much for her. I left the training grounds and decided to go back home.
