"Timber! Come see!" came a call.

Looking down the hallway from my computer, I could see my best friend Kassette King waiting for me by the front door. As normal he looked incredible, his suit laid out nicely over his body complimenting his magenta and blue face.

"Coming! I'll be there in a sec." Taking off my headphones I got up and threw on some shorts and flannel before making way towards the front door.

"Bro you're never ready to go I swear," his voice like that of an angels, "get dressed or we will be late."

Late? Why would we be late?

Sensing his urgency I pivot on my heels rushing back to my room to get ready. As the door closed behind me there on my monitor was a sticky note.

Don't forget 12/15/23 Birthday Dinner with Kass <3

A birthday dinner reservation, no wonder we would be late. It's my birthday tonight and I completely forgot. Stripping down out of my casual clothes, I grabbed more appropriate attire. Some nice comfortable black pants, my half shirt and over it a dressy flannel buttoned halfway up.

"Okok I think this should be ok?"

Mumbling to myself I throw my blonde hair up into a ponytail, careful not to pull on the mushroom that houses all of my cognitive controls and thoughts.

Slipping on some combat boots I rush out of my room to meet up with Kass. He's patiently waiting for me on the couch, looking me up and down with his amber eyes glazed over and a soft smirk. Was that a figment of my imagination, or is he checking me out?

"You look great Timber, let's get moving," he snaps me out of my thoughts as he wraps his arm around me. Directing me to the door, I feel the cool night breeze hit my face. Taking in the sight before me, it's a full moon outside, there's no need for the artificial lights on the street. There is Kass's truck, he knows I love being his passenger princess and frequently drives me wherever.

Climbing into the front seat I'm greeted with some pillows and a few blankets folded up on the dash. Kass always keeps these in here for whenever we go on drives, but why tonight?

"Buckle up buttercup, we don't wanna get a ticket tonight for seatbelt violations again."

"W-what?! That wasn't my fault, that was the other guys," flustered at the nickname as I try to come up with an excuse. A couple months ago we were driving down the interstate with some friends and none of us had on seatbelts. "Those cops were assholes for pulling us over anyways."

We drove for the better part of an hour before pulling up to one of the nicer restaurants in town. Bright lights flooded the parking lot. This place was packed, no wonder Kass made this reservation so long ago. Never would it have crossed my mind to put in a reservation for a week before Christmas.

"Kass, why did you choose to take me to Fuji Sushi? We could've gone to McDonald's and I would have been happy."

"Cause you deserve better than McDonald's tonight," with a wink Kass slipped out of the truck and came to open my door. "Well come on now."

I take his hand and get out of the truck, with his hand in mine we walked up to the front desk.

"Reservation for King, party of two."

"Yes sir, right this way," the waitress gestured for us to follow her to the seating area. "What can I get you started with tonight?"

"He will have a glass of soju and an order of crab rangoon's, but with the freshest real crab you currently have in stock," Kass spoke for me before I could even sit down. "I'll have a glass of Kirin." With that she took her leave. As she walked away I gave Kass a weird look.
