Adam's POV:
Crash!
There it was. The sound of my alcoholic father throwing yet another bottle. How pleasant. He hadn't even been home for 15 minutes and he was already drinking!
I buried my face in my soft pillow, which at the time was my only source of comfort, and just sighed.
It wasn't a sigh of sadness...nor was it a sigh of anger...it was a sigh filled with a mix of the two. I wanted to be sad, but at the same time I was mad. Mad at my father...mad at myself...mad at the world.
I hated the fact that my mother was dead, and that I was stuck with my father...if I can even call him that...for the remainder of high school.
Luckily, he wasn't home most of the time, so it wasn't like I saw him 24/7. But still, when he came home, my peaceful paradise was turned into a burning hell hole.
Sigh...at least my mom's old shop is in my possession now...I have something to remember her by. I know how much she loved that store. It really pained me to know that I'd never see the woman who gave me hope, ever again.
Speaking of the shop, it'd been quite a while since I'd checked on the store.
How silly of me.
There were still a few hours left in the day so I decided that I would go check. Finally, a good reason to get out of the house.
---
It wasn't very hard for me to sneak out of the house, you know, considering that my father was drunk. I slipped out of the window with ease. I felt alive. I felt like...a motherfuckin' bird...heheh.
When I arrived at the shop, it seemed to be in the same state as it was before my mom died.
I slowly walked into the building. It had a sort of damp smell to it. Lord knows why. I examined the inside carefully. There were statues everywhere. It was kinda creepy....but nothing seemed to be damaged though, so that was good.
I carefully walked to the back of the store, making sure to not step on or knock over anything. The back of the store had an even damper smell..kinda like mildew.
There were boxes EVERYWHERE. I guess I was supposed look inside them...? After all, it wasn't like my mom could open them.
I let out a tired sigh and began to open the boxes one by one. They were mostly filled with things like mallets, marble, and stone. Though, something was off about the last box...I swear that I saw it...move...
With a tilted head, I slowly walked towards the box...
Bam!
I saw it move again!
Quite startled, I grabbed the box cutter out of my pocket. I then started to move towards the box again. My heart was racing. What could be inside the box? An animal? Some type of demon? Those were the type of thoughts that went through my head.
I took a deep breath, mustering up all the courage I could, and cut the box slowly, my hand shaking slightly. Once I cut it, I hesitated for a moment. Was I even ready for what I would find inside...? After that moment of hesitation, I finally whipped the box open.
The truth is, I really wasn't ready for what was inside.
When I opened the box, I was face to face with a beautiful girl. The girl had long silver-ish hair that fell down to her waists. Small waists at that. However, even though they were small, they were very curved. Her eyes were a beautiful mix of orange, red, and yellow...they reminded me of the last sunset that my mother and I had watched.
Not only that, but the girl looked about my age. Interesting.
After what felt like 15 minutes (but in reality it was only about 1 minute), the girl spoke. She said: "Hello my name is Lisanna...nice to meet you."
She spoke in the softest, most caring voice. It reminded me of my mother. Though, the only thing I found weird was the fact that she was in a box...looks like I'll have to do some investigating.
