Two girls live alone, they have no family, no real home, no nothing... Just each other. They live in the South, in a little house, around a little town. One day when Emily, the oldest sister, is getting ready to go to town and try to get some food, her little sister Anna walks in...
"I was just about to go to the store," said Emily, with a small smile.
"Yeah I know," said Anna, with a worried look on her face.
Emily turned on her sister mode, "What's wrong Anna?"
"I-I... it's just that... I-I...-"
"Spit it out Anna!"
"Just let me show you..."
Anna grabbed Emily's hand. "I'll show you!" She said a bit more brave than she was a few minutes ago.
Emily followed her out the door, she wandered what was going on, but decided not to ask.
"I've been hiding this concealment," said Anna, "for a while, now."
Emily was confused. "What? What concealment... Anna, stop!" Emily grabbed her hand.
"I'll show you," said Anna. She took a few steps back. The next thing that happened, Emily thought was a dream.
Anna was peeling, like she had sunburn. Then the weirdest thing happened, something emerged from the thing that used to be Anna. A dark figure came out.
The thing laughed as it looked at its hands. "It's been so long," said the figure, "since I've seen this form of me." Her voice was like nails on a chalkboard, awful.
"Anna," asked Emily. "Wh-what happened to you?"
The figure laughed again. "Nothing happened, just a little bit more me!" She kept giggling, like she couldn't stop, as if this were the funniest thing ever.
"Oh one more thing," said Anna. "I never did love you." This shattered Emily's heart into peices.
"That's a lie," yelled Emily. "She loved me more than words can say! Where is the real Anna? WHERE?!
"She is still right here, still me, just not the one you know." She was giggling again, as if all this were a big joke!
"Anna, just stop! This isn't you!" Emily was crying now. She couldn't help, but think that Anna was going to kill her... Or even worse not turn back into the old Anna she knew.
"Oh trust me,"said Anna, trying to keep herself together. "This is, truly me."
Emily had to come up with a plan, fast, so that's what she did. "Anna," she said. Anna finally stopped giggling, and turned to face Emily. "Why don't you love me? Why? Can you answer me?"
Anna was in complete shock, when she asked that question, but she knew the answer. "Because, you never loved me," she answered.
Emily was stunned by her answer. "Yes I did, I still do! Why would you think that?!"
"Because, every time I asked you if I could come with you to the store, you would say, 'No'. And every time you came home and you were tired, I would ask you to read to me a bedtime story, you would say no!" Anna was crying now.
"That doesn't mean anything!" Yelled Emily. "I was tired and I wanted to sleep. The store part was to keep you safe! Do you know how many crooks are out there?"
Anna looked taken aback. "Well... That... Doesn't mean anything." She whispered.
"Yes it does," said Emily. "Remember that time when I did brought you to the store, and we tricked that guy into giving us a cart full of groceries? Remember when I taught you how to hunt and skin a rabbit? Remember that?!"
"No!" Yelled Anna. "No stop it! STOP!!"
"FIGHT IT ANNA! REMEMBER, I STILL LOVE YOU, NO MATTER WHAT!!!"
Anna gave one last big screech and she was gone, just like that. Emily began to cry, she dropped to her knees.
"Why are you crying?" Asked a tiny voice, that Emily recognized.
Emily looked up, to find her baby sister, kneeling in front of her!
Emily smiled and said, "No reason, no reason at all. And always remember, I still love you no matter what!"
