Context: Bajrang had disappeared for a whole year because his (damned) Babaji told him to stay away from Chandramukhi. Eventually, he couldn't stay away any longer and decided to rejoin Imaan Chowki.

A year. It had been a year since he last saw her face. Chandramukhi? She was far prettier than the moon. The moon's beauty was unreliable, it changed everyday. But she remained the same, the same expletives used in every sentence as a suffix, the same aura of wrath she carried as before. Yet she had also changed, in the most charming way. He had fallen for her innocence, her straightforwardness, her youthfulness. But now, she looks mature. Her hair started to grey, tied back in a tight braid rather than her classic loose curls. She put on kajal. He recalled she was afraid of doing so before.
"I really don't know how they do it," she said, eyeing the liner in her hands with a petrified face. "The day I master this skill, Pandey ji, is the day I truly grow up." He laughed at her tone, she sounded like a kid who was forced to recite a poem in front of her aunt. "I'm serious!" she cried incredulously.
He couldn't help but let a slight smile slip looking at her now. All decked up in kajal and a lipstick that does not scream 'I'M BARBIE'S PRETTIER TWIN'. She really has grown up. Her smile lines are more pronounced, her eyes were still bright- indicating she wasn't sad while he was gone. He felt oddly better knowing that she remained healthy and content without him. At least someone was happy.
"Welcome back Pandey ji, aapka bohot intezar kiya hai maine," she announced softly, her eyes moist with tears and her lips in the most subtle smile.

She was flipping through an old file when she smelt a whiff of his cologne. She stood up straight, staring at her file. Maybe it has his smell on it from when he used to be here? She shook her head, that is one of the top 5 most stupid things she has ever thought.
She turned around in one swift motion, looking at the source of the scent. There he was, standing tall and dare she say handsome. A bright smile plastered across his face as he waved at her like a five year old.
Her eyes widened along with her grin. She had been praying day and night to hear a word from him. A letter, a text, a pigeon, at least something? She ran up to him and hugged him with all her might. She could swear she could hear a cheesy Bollywood tune in the background as he tightened the hug. Her feet lifted off the ground and he twirled her around. Both giggled with utter happiness of reunion.
He looked so old now. In just a year, he had changed so much. His face longer and eyes darker with circles. He looked like a traveller who came back home, tired and happy at the same time. Regardless, he was stronger and muscular than before. She even wondered whether he grew a few inches taller.
She fought back tears of complaints. How dare he? How dare he leave her alone after those wonderful moments they spent together? How dare he not call her or tell her he was leaving? Despite her frustration, she kept calm. He is back and that's all that matters.
She closed her eyes and let his scent soak in. He was back at last. All those days of agonising loneliness will be gone. She kept a brave face in front of everyone this whole time but she secretly was dying on the inside. She had realised long ago she has truly loved him- for his warm presence, for his flirty jokes, for his childlike smile and so many more things she will never be able to list.
Failing to hide the tears, she croaked out, "Welcome back Pandey ji, aapka bohot intezar kiya hai maine."
