Nate's pov
The sound from the speakers vibrating under my feet, the loud music almost destroying my eardrum, and the fucking lights-this is why I hate clubs or bars don't get me wrong I love to drink but in the comfort of my home. My friends seem to disagree though because they all have girls on their laps treating them like they are some stupid king.
"Excuse me, I want to refill my drink" I told the clingy brunette girl on my laps finding an excuse to get her off me. Though she didn't seem very happy too but I was thankful I could breathe fresh air rather than having her breathing down my throat every two minutes. Not to come off dismissive I added a please cause my mama taught me to be respectful.
I walked towards the bar leaning against the cold granite counter, ordering a neat bourbon. I had zoned off thinking about what it would feel like if I could get back to the basketball court that I didn't notice Alex walking toward me.
"Hey mate" Alex said slowly, watching my facial expression intently like I would burst out into tears at any minute. I didn't like that people started to treat me like a baby ever since the accident.Meanwhile, Alex has been my best friend since college, after the incident he decided to relocate to England insisting that I go with him to 'heal'.
"What" I replied back in a bored tone raising my head to look into his ocean eyes. Not gonna lie, Alex is a fine man who's got everything going on for him he's got his own business, he's got the looks and he has a better personality to me and the third one in our trio Marcus. Marcus in a microcosm for all the nerds in the world, he is literally too smart like calm down bruv. Marcus works in a high computer tech company and is the regional manager for London. The actual reason behind mine and Alex's relocation was to move in with Marcus's lonely ass in London. We all met in college but after graduation Marcus moved to London because he was hired before even finishing college, he is just too brilliant for his own good.
" Don't you think you need a woman to settle down with so she can take care of you and shit". Alex said a very serious expression.
It took me all my strength not to crack a smile because Alex is never serious.
" why?, I already got my mama. I don't need any whiny girlfriend right now."
"And besides I don't want the paparazzi to find a new topic to talk about" I added.Appearing out of nowhere, Marcus piped in
" yeah, real talk man you really need someone to bed you up" I groaned telling them to piss off
" when last have you had a real relationship since Maria".My head bolted up immediately. " hey, we don't talk about Maria in public. You don't know where paparazzi might be lurking".
" Chill man this is a London, you don't have to worry about Californian paparazzi and crazy fans" Alex retorted.I was about to argue before the door of the secluded area flung open revealing people behind it.
" Is that Ashley 'freaking' park!" Alex said in surprise.
"Who is that" I inquired obliviously causing their heads to swing toward my direction like I was crazy for asking the question. She must be quite popular then.
