Chapter 1

Authors Note: Hello! This is my first fanfiction I've ever wrote so please show some respect! Also, if this isn't your favorite ship, I understand. Also, I post a chapter probably every week or two. I also don't have good writing skills but I'm indeed working on it. Well, enough chatting! Enjoy! ^^

(Rengoku's Pov)

It has been a while since I've seen Uzui. He said he had an important meeting a month ago and then he just.... left. I tried to wait until he came back but I missed him. It sucked not having a best friend around and I'm not getting used to it. I have never been so impatient. It felt like he'd never come back and.......

"Rengoku!!" Mitsuri yelled from the other room, distracting me from my thoughts.

I stood up and left the room sleepily. I turned my head and saw Mitsuri in front of me. I jumped, startled. I didn't know she'd be right next to me...

"G-Gah! Mitsuri, don't do that! You scared the shit out of me!"

Mitsuri smiles a bit. "Oops, sorry. Anyways, that doesn't matter. We have a surprise for you!"

"We?"

"Yeah, the other hashira!"

"Hm, well I do like surprises..."

Mitsuri grabs my arm and pulls me outside to where the other hashira were waiting for me. Shinobu smiles.

"Rengoku-san, we were waiting for you!" Shinobu says.

"Yeah, I see. Sorry." I mutter.

I turn my head away from the others, only to see Uzui right before my eyes. I was stunned to see him standing there, as I thought he would never return. I stared at him, and he stared back with a smile. He walks forward and pulls me into a hug. My eyes well up with tears as I hugged him tight.

"I missed you, you big dummy!" I say, smiling through my tears.

He puts a hand on my cheek and wipes my tears away. "I missed you too! Oh, and I got something for you!"

I tilt my head curiously. "Well, what is it?"

He reached his hand inside of a bag and pulled out a small gift box, handing it to me. The wrapping paper was golden colored, and an orange bow was tied around it. "Here you go!"

I slowly took the box and unwrapped it. Inside the box were some chocolates, decorated in vanilla and mint frosting. The chocolates were shaped as hearts, which looked adorable. I picked up one of them and bit into it. The chocolate tasted like coffee, and it tasted delicious as it melted inside of my mouth. I finished eating the piece of chocolate before grinning.

"Uzui, where did you get these?"

"Oh, I made them myself! Well, Suma helped me, of course, but I did most of the work!"

I smile at him. "They're delicious! I'm surprised you didn't burn them!' I teased.

His eyes widen in shock. "T-That was one time! I'm good at baking!" He says, with a fake look of betrayal.

I smirk. "Well, why did Suma need to help you, then?"

"E-Eh!? Because I....How about we change the subject? How have you been?"

"Hm, I've been fine. How about you?"

"I could've been worse. I'm glad you missed me."

"Well, of course I missed you! I'm your best friend."

"Eh, it's getting dark. Let's go inside."

"Good idea."

We finally head inside to get some sleep.
