"I'm sorry to have to leave on such short notice," John said. You could tell that he was unhappy in leaving his family to travel across the world. "It's alright, you do what you need to do. Don't get up to no trouble, you hear me?" Abigail lectured. John said goodbye to his wife, son, and his friend Charles and set off on his own. He didn't want to leave, but ranching at Beecher's Hope wasn't enough to keep them on their feet. They needed a big take. However, they wanted to be honest about it. They were done with stealing and robbing people.

John traveled with the beautiful champagne horse by his side. The horse seemed to sparkle in the moonlight, similar to a winter evening. Warm, cozy and calm. John admired the horse's beauty, for it would be gone within the months to come. John didn't want to say goodbye. After all, the two have been very good friends over the years. But the mare was getting old - too old for work or pleasure riding. John had found someone looking for a champagne horse and though the man gave no particular reason, John could not afford to take care of the horse anymore. For, he has a new one now. He may be a draft horse, however very strong and powerful.

John was almost tearful, saying goodbye to his champagne beauty. He still had some time, but he knew it was coming to an end. The champagne horse did not need a lead or rope, for the horse trusted John far too much to part from him. Wherever John went, the alluring champagne horse followed. Despite being so captivating of the eyes, the champagne horse never took pride in her own appearance.

As John continued along the path, slowly becoming further and further away from his home, something didn't feel right. Maybe it was the dread of leaving home, or the despair from saying goodbye to his glowing horse, but he knew that something was watching him. He could feel the eyes on his from somewhere in the distance. As he neared the next turn, the bushes started to rustle and sway in the darkness of the night, and he knew that something was there.

A low growl comes from the bushes, almost... cat like. John pulled out his gun and aimed into the bushes, but couldn't see where the growl came from. In the next few moments, a sandy yellow cat emerges from the trees and shrubs, in a crouching motion, slowly making its way closer to John. The horses are beyond spooked, almost ready to flee when John fires his gun and a low groan comes from the cat, who now lie still on the grass.
