I woke up feeling upset to spend yet another awful day at my Junior high school. I said my prayers and got ready to leave that morning.
'Alex, don't forget your project', mum called out with my paper mache volcano in her hands.
'Thanks, Mum'
'Have fun at school'
'I don't see that happening', I replied coldly as I left the house.Entering the school's hallway, Tom, a classmate, took off my glasses, lifting his hands high. He was much taller and would use that to tease me always.
'Tom give it back' I said in a tired voice
'If you can reach it'.
The school bell for the first period rang just then, compelling Tom to return the glasses.I walked into the class, placing my project on the desk, when two boys playing around knocked it over. I immediately yelled at them, nearly picking a fight.
'Dude, you are too grumpy for your age', Cecilia, the class president, and principal's daughter, spoke from behind me.
'It was an accident. Besides, the assignment is intact, lighten up'.I sat down with no reply. While the teacher was conducting the lesson, I felt a paper ball hit the back of my head. I knew it was one of Cecilia's friends, they always did that.
At recess, I went to have lunch by myself at the bleachers when three of my mates approached me. A girl and two boys. The girl grabbed my juice box without asking, while the boys took off one leg of my shoe. They tossed it around like it was some ball.
I was so pissed by their actions that I muttered under my breath,
'I wish you all would just disappear!'.The following week I came to school as usual, however, I was taken aback when my class was empty. Instead of the twenty chairs we had, it was only two.
Once the first-period teacher walked in, I asked her about my classmates. Did they plan some class outings without me? Their picking on me doesn't give them the right to make me a pariah.
She merely chuckled, 'Alex, did you hit your head on your way, or was that a joke? Or you are probably sad being the only student in your class?'.
