In the heart of our town lies a place
A scar on the earth, a shameful disgrace
Walley's Quarry's landfill, a site to behold
A monument to waste, a story untold
For years it's been growing, an eyesore to all
A blight on the landscape, a menace so tall
Its toxins seep into the soil and the air
A threat to our health, a burden to bear
The stench of its rot fills our lungs with disease
A slow poison that spreads with the breeze
And the waters that flow from its tainted ground
Are tainted too, toxic and unsound
Its filth spreads far and wide, affecting all
The young and the old, the big and the small
It harms every living thing in its path
A deadly legacy, a pitiless wrath
We cry out for justice, for an end to the harm
For the closure of Walley's, for a safer calm
We demand a clean-up, a healing of the land
To restore what was lost, to take a stand
Let us not forget the cost of our greed
And the harm that we do, in our heedless need
For Walley's Quarry's landfill is a lesson to learn
Of the price we pay, when we fail to discern."
