The Red Steve led him back into the house, and Sabre uneasily sat down in the living room. The Steve pulled up a chair and sat across from him, smiling softly.

"So. Our introductions were a bit messy, I apologize." The Steve chuckled a little.

"It was my fault." Sabre said quickly. "I should have just listened to you..."

"No, no, it's fine. You're clearly not used to this world, which is to be expected." The Red Steve smiled. "My name is Red Steve. And you are?"

"Sabre."

"It's very nice to meet you, Sabre." Red Steve gave him a smile so sincere, Sabre would have swore the guy was the nicest Red Steve on the planet. "So...you came out of the portal, I assume?"

"How did you know?" Sabre gaped. Well, it made sense, since Sabre popped up in his house randomly. He didn't explore too thoroughly, but he had a feeling there wasn't some secret back entrance Sabre could have come in through. But he still felt like asking.

"Well...believe it or not, legend says a hero would come through that portal and save the Steve Realm." Red Steve studied him carefully, waiting to see his reaction.

Sabre froze.

"So...you must go to the next world. Save it."

This was...too close to what the dark figure had told him. Too, too close. His hands gripped at the red velvet chair a little too tightly as his breathing began to ever so slightly pick up in speed. Sabre tried not to think about it, but couldn't help it. "Really?" He croaked out, sounding like an absolute idiot.

"Yes. It's been my job to watch over the portal, for when the hero came through. That hero being...you, most likely." Red Steve's face was serious, yet still comforting.

"Y'know, you're not the first person recently to tell me I'm some hero." Sabre forced a smile. He didn't want to think, much less talk about the strange figure, but here he was.

"Really?" Red Steve frowned. "If I may ask...Where do you come from?"

"I'm from here, I think...well-..." Sabre reconsidered what the dark figure had told him. If the hero stuff was lining up, then...he really was in a different world, huh? A similar, albeit different world. "Never mind. I'm from a place a lot like this world. But not here. I don't think, at least..."

Red Steve nodded along. "I see..." he paused, thinking for a second. "Maybe I should take you somewhere. If you don't mind." He stood up from his chair, smiling softly.

"Where?" Sabre asked, standing up as well, but he was willing to go anywhere. He wanted to explore and know more about this world. After all...

How else would he get out?

Sabre hadn't given it much thought, but now that he had come to terms with the fact he was in a different world...it was his top priority to leave it. He had to get back to his friends. Everyone thought he was dead, and that thought made Sabre's heart hurt. They missed him, right? Surely they did. He needed to get back.

"..abre? Sabre?" Red Steve frowned, waving a hand in front of his face. Sabre snapped back to the conversation.

"Sorry!" He apologized quickly. He hadn't meant to just zone out like that.

"It's fine. As I was saying...we'll be heading to a temple, close to here. It'll probably have the answers you need." Red Steve smiled, opening the door for Sabre. Sabre walked out and was met with warm daylight.

Sabre didn't need answers, he needed a way out. But he still smiled and nodded like he wanted to save this world. Frankly, it didn't seem like the world was in much trouble. Red Steve didn't sound urgent or desperate at all, and the world seemed beautiful and untouched. They could do with a different savior, couldn't they?

Red Steve stood at his side. "You ready to go? It won't take that long, but I gotta make sure you're committed." He smirked.

"I'm ready!!"

Sabre laughed along like he intended to stay, but he already knew his goal. He'd figure the steps out soon enough.
