He's a clone of Malroth created by The Children of Hargon with all Malroth's memories, but not his personality.
Malroth hates him. Thinks he's pathetic. And a coward. And because he technically dated Dee before he did.
Liam's original purpose was to make it so Malroth's friends wouldn't come looking for him while The Children were holding Malroth hostage. And so The Children could keep tabs on the people on the isle. But Liam, much like Malroth, feel in love with the island and it's people, so he cut contact with The Children.
Liam lives in the castle (out of sight from Malroth) and has a relationship with Zara, mostly because she's someone Malroth never really paid attention to.
And he cut his hair so that people wouldn't confuse him with Malroth.
