The air filled with echoes of noises, as she tried to concentrate, hushed and muffled voices in the distance caused sharp pains to shoot through her mind making it harder for her to focus.Cautiously opening her eyes, she groans out at the intense blinding light causing her to shut her eyes again.
Hearing a light chuckle from beside her, her body stiffened, causing a wave of uneasiness to wash over her at the realization that she didn't know where she was or who was with her.
"You sure know how to give your old man a heart attack." A familiar voice states amused. Upon hearing his voice, Lottie's body slowly began to relax, and a soft smile formed on her lips.
"Of course, he would send you" Lottie mumbles turning to face the man, noticing she was in a hospital room.
"Hello Rossi"
She wasn't surprised at all, there were only a few selected individuals who Phill trusted. David Rossi was one of them and since his team was already involved anyway, Phill probably called him the moment they went into lockdown.
"Lottie" Rossi nods his head with a small grin "What is it with you and explosions?" He questions already knowing the answer.
With everything the girl had been through he had found it was better to joke about the situation with her than act like she was a fragile kid. Which sometimes was hard to do because, in reality, she was still a kid who didn't ask for this life and yet somehow it became the only life she knew.
Lottie shakes her head with a gentle laugh "Technically this time all I did was set them off, the bombs were already placed." She teases with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
She was glad for his presence, It made her focus on him and the conversation rather than her actions. Killing wasn't new to her, but it didn't mean she enjoyed it.
Phill had assured her plenty of times that if she didn't want to do any more missions then it was okay. No one would judge her for wanting a different future but for her, in her mind if she could eliminate the evil in the world then maybe it would make her past actions seem okay and maybe just then the guilt would fade.
"Only you" Rossi mutters before deeply sighing "Phill was concerned." He admits, turning more serious.
Lottie frowns, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion, "Because I used the phone?" She asks a little unsure.
"Partly" Rossi replies, pursing his lips. "You've never willingly done that before." He adds.
"I've never had other involvements before either." She remarks closing her eyes before taking a deep breath.
"Understandable." Rossi comments, not pushing on the matter. "He's still glad you call in" He points out.
He knew there was another conversation he needed to have with her and had to be careful with how he spoke. This wasn't necessarily because of Phill since he knew once she was back in New York they both would have their on conversation but this was more for his team and himself.
