My kitten ♥ Hoonki ♥

Chapter 1

"Welcome to Enha Shelter! My name is Jungwon, what can I do for you," a young man who reminds Sunghoon of a cat asks with a smile. He has dark hair, small but expressive cat eyes, thin lips, and dimples on his cheeks.

"Hello, my name is Sunghoon and I'd like to adopt a kitten," he replies politely, then turns his gaze to the young man in a white coat with pink hair who has just entered. He seems to be glowing as far as the wide smile on his face.

"Wonie, I checked on the newborn kittens and puppies, just like you as-" he cuts himself off halfway through and awkwardly scratches the back of his head, embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I didn't hear that someone was here. I'm Kim Sunoo, the veterinarian of this shelter, welcome! Who do you want to take in? Don't worry, all of our animals are healthy," he smiles kindly as she walks closer to Jungwon.

"Ah, yes, I'd like to take a cat," he replies hesitantly, shifting his gaze from Sunoo to Jungwon. "I hope you can help me choose. I'd like one that's gentle and calm. I'm at work for quite a while, so hopefully the cat won't get bored in my absence."

"Oh-oh, I have the perfect candidate," Sunoo replies enthusiastically and gestures for him to follow, which Sunghoon does.

They walk along the bright corridors to his right is the veterinarian's office as he reads the sign above the door, walking a little further he sees a door leading to what he thinks is a warehouse. They walk in silence until they reach a glass door and Sunoo opens it, letting him inside the bright room. It's quite cozy and warm inside, light walls and a few lamps on the walls, there are animal cages on the right side of the room, and to his left is an area where animals can play - soft carpets, scratching posts, lots of toys and all sorts of play sets, soft houses and beds. Some are running and playing with each other, some are washing or sleeping, all animals are busy with something.

"Welcome to our cat corner," Sunoo smiles, opening his arms wide.  "You can have a look and get acquainted with our lovely residents, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask."

Sunghoon nods in response and decides to go to the animal cages first. He walks from one to the other, looking at the furry lumps inside, but none have caught his attention yet. He listens to Sunoo talk about each of the pets and the stories of how they got here, until his attention is suddenly drawn to a beautiful sand colored cat with black spots all over its body, wide muzzle, hazel eyes, and large, round paws. The tail is thick, with a rounded tip, there are also spots on the ears. The animal studies him with interest and comes a little closer, sniffing. Sunghoon, as if mesmerized, approaches and lets the animal sniff him and it seems quite content and lets him stroke himself, putting his head up through the bars. Park gently and carefully strokes the cat on the top of its head, scratching its neck on each side, enjoying the contented rumbling.

"I see you like Nicki as much as he likes you," Sunoo says quietly, the joy clearly audible in his voice. "You're the first person he's been so affectionate with. He doesn't usually like anyone," he laughs, putting his palm to his lips. Sunghoon hums and smiles in response, deciding that he's going to take this fluffy lump.

"I want to take him."

"Great," Sunoo claps his hands together. "Niki is a pedigree cat. Bengal cat, maybe you've heard or read something?" he asks, receiving only a questioning look in return. Sunoo rolls his eyes, but continues, "Quite an interesting breed with a very beautiful color, they are quite active and love to play, unpretentious in care, the main thing do not forget to trim the claws. You can go to the information desk, and I'll do the paperwork and bring you your new pet."

Sunghoon nods and strokes the animal's head one last time. A few minutes later, he is already sitting in the waiting area, scrolling through the feed on his phone, waiting for the paperwork to be processed and the cat to be examined by a doctor. Finally, after a long twenty minutes, everything is ready and he is handed the paperwork along with the carrier and Niki. Sunghoon doesn't forget to buy everything he needs for his new pet and together they go home.
