Flashback to 2012

"What do you say? Pizza with your little sister tonight?" River asked her older brother, Tony. Tony Stark was River's older brother. He was a fellow Avenger and River's best friend and biggest supporter in life. Well, since Peter Quill "past away."

The Avengers had just fought their first battle together and one that they would remember forever. The battle against Loki in New York. All of the team was tired and beaten from the battle and now it was finally over. River was sore and she could literally feel the bruises and scars on her back. But she to have a fun night with her brother. They hadn't done that in a while.

"That sounds great, but I'll have to bring Azure because Pepper's out of town," Tony answered her. He was currently working on his Iron Man suit which was damaged in the battle.

"Then bring him! It'll be fun! We can go to my place and watch a movie. Azure can pick!" River said. Tony looked up from the suit and glared at her.

"You do know that we'll be watching Peter Pan and if I watch that movie again, I'll throw the TV out the window," he said. River giggled a little and rolled her eyes.

"You can't say much. Mom always got mad when you had to watch Snow White every. Single. Night," River told him. Tony's mouthed dropped. He was speechless for a minute, but then he thought of a comeback.

"That movie is a masterpiece. Cinematic masterpiece, Riv, and you know it," Tony said with a smirk. River threw a nearby towel at him. Tony chuckled and put his tools back. He wiped his oil stained hands with that towel and grabbed his sunglasses and keys. "You can pick the movie. He'll like whatever you pick because Auntie River is the best person in his world right now," he said.

"Can't blame me for being cooler than you," River said. Tony sighed before giving his sister a longing look. He had something on his chest that he wanted to talk to his little sister about. Something important that had been on his heart ever since Loki came to New York.

"River, before we leave. I need to talk to you for a minute," Tony said. The tone of his voice was sad and almost depressing. River knew when Tony had something on his chest, so she stopped to listen. She sat down at the small bar that Tony had in his work room.

"What's wrong?" River asked him. Tony trudged up to the bar and sat in the stool beside her. He wiped the sweat off his forehead and folded his hands together. He took a deep breath before starting to talk.

"I want you to promise me something, River," Tony started. He took another deep breath before starting. But it felt like he couldn't speak. His mouth was moving but no words were coming out of it. River placed her hand on his shoulder and leaned towards his face more.

"I'll do whatever it is. I promise," River said. Tony looked up at her and nodded his head.

"If I ever die in battle-," he started but River interrupted him.

"Tony, don't say that," she said, but Tony put his hand up to stop her.

"I hope I never do, but if I do. You have to promise me that you'll be there for Azure and Pepper and any other kids that me and Pepper have," Tony said. River sat there in silence for a minute. That was hard to hear. She couldn't imagine what would happen if her brother died. He was her best friend. And he always would be. "Please." He was pleading with her with sorrow in his eyes.

"I promise," she answered

"He's done with me," Azure said while crying. He was sitting on the floor, wiping tears from his eyes. "He's done with me." Azure was curled up in a ball, his head in his knees. Everything was falling apart. He thought everything would be better when he came back, but it's not getting better. It's getting worse so quick. RJ left him. Rowan can't even think straight. River was basically gone. He never in a million years thought that River would turn, but she did. "River, if you can hear me, I need you. I need the old River. The one that promised to be there for me. "

River snapped up. She was in control of her mind for a minute. She heard his voice. Azure's voice was ringing in her head. It wouldn't stop. "I'm here, Azure. I'm here. I'm gonna get out of this. I'm coming back .  I love you. Please hear me," River said, praying that her nephew would hear her voice. Right then, her mind was back in Kang's hands.

"River?" Azure said. He could hear her voice. He could hear her. He wiped his tears away. It was as plain as day. "I hear you. We're gonna find you. I'll find you," Azure said. He was determined to find her. "I'm not losing another loved one." Azure opened the door to  the room and started walking towards Naomi.

She was sitting at the table of the small warehouse, thinking about Rowan. His mind was so twisted and it was River's fault. It was all her fault. But at the same time, she couldn't completely blame River. Something else was going on. They had to figure it all out and fast. But right now, her main priority was Rowan and getting his mind back in order.

"Naomi!" Azure exclaimed. Naomi look up at him, a little shocked. "She's being controlled. She has to be!"

"What? What are you talking about?" Naomi asked him. Azure was a little out of breath from running into the room.

"River. She called out to me," Azure said.

"She called out to you?" Naomi asked. Azure nodded and put his fist on the table.

"Yes, she did. It was her. I know it was. I could hear her voice. She's in pain. She needs us!" Azure exclaimed. Naomi stopped and glared at him. So many thoughts were running through her head.

"What if it's a trap? What if she's trying to trick us and take Rowan back and us and-" Naomi said, starting to panic, but Azure stopped her by putting his hands on her shoulders.

"Naomi. Calm down. It's not a trap. Someone's controlling her. We have to find her and rescue her," Azure said. Naomi sighed and pushed his hands away.

"That could be true, but we don't know that for sure. Let's get the group, discuss this and see if this is the right move. We can't put Rowan in a situation like that again. And same goes for us," Naomi said. "Okay?" she ended with. Azure rolled his eyes and nodded.

"Okay," he said. Naomi walked away to go check on Rowan, leaving Azure by himself.

"But I'm going to get her back," Azure whispered to himself. This was gonna end soon.
