Song of the chapter: Change (In the House of Flies) - Deftones

Atsumu and Osamu had passed out on my floor. They had practically stuffed themselves with brownies. I gave them both pillows and blankets, hoping they'd shift in their sleep to be more comfortable.

Suna and I sat by my window enjoying the music.
We had stayed up all night. Hershey was up with us, sitting right in between us. The sun now began to rise in the rainy clouds, forming dim hues of orange, purple, and grey.

Soon enough as the colors fade I look over to Suna, feeling his gaze. I smiled at him, a little confused as to why he was looking at me. "What? Do I have brownies on my face?" I laughed and wiped my mouth. "Uh- no. Sorry." He said then looked away.

"Hey! That's not nice! Tell me why you were staring!" I said and poked his arm. He smiled and shook his head. "Oh come on. Was I just too beautiful to look away from?" I laughed sarcastically.

"No- I mean- you are pretty. That's just not why. Not that there's a reason that I was staring at you. Well, I wasn't staring-" He rambled on. "Suna!" I said and scooted closer. "You're rambling." I laughed. "I was just messing with you." I teased. Once again, I find myself drawing closer to him. As if he were a magnet.

Soon enough his lips touched mine. Too caught off guard to kiss back. As I felt him pull away, I finally did so. I'm not sure why, but it felt nice too. He tasted like mint and chocolate. He cupped my cheek and deepened the kiss. My hand went to the back of his neck, running through his hair.

We pulled away, catching our breath. "Sorry... you're the one who wanted to know why I was staring." He looked away. "Well that's not what I was expecting, but I'm not complaining." I chuckled. He looked back over and I stared into his eyes. "Damn you for looking at me like that." He said with a breathy voice and smashed his lips to mine once again.

This time it was a bit more aggressive, his hands smoothly brushed my thigh. I then heard a very confused meow and looked down at Hershey, who was looking back and forth between us, very curiously.

I laughed and took him into my arms. "Sorry Hershey, how could we do such things in front of you? You're too innocent." I pet him and looked to Suna who was smiling at us.

Suddenly headlights flashed and tires screeched. I looked out my window, seeing my mom's car aggressively pull into the driveway. "My mom's home a little early?" I said, she got out of her car, very wobbly. I grew confused as to why she would be so drunk right after work.

I stood up, letting Hershey down, and walked out of my room. My mom struggled to open the door, her keys jingling from the other side.

I unlocked it and let her in. "Mom? What happened?" I asked. She glared at me and pointed to my room, with a bottle in hand. "Go. Leave me the fuck alone kid." She slurred. "What? Why are you so drunk?" I asked. "Shut up. I don't wanna talk about it."

"Mom, what the fuck is wrong with you?" I began to get angry. "You're early from work? Came home DRUNK after work? And you're drinking and driving. Why didn't you call I would've picked you up?" I started raising my voice.

I could see her agitated glances. She then raised the hand with the bottle in it and threw it at the wall, making glass shatter everywhere. I jumped, she was never an aggressive drunk. "I got fucking fired!" She yelled. My eyes were wide.

But I saw this coming. I knew it would happen eventually. This time it's just a little earlier than usual. I saw the three boys come out of my room, looking to see what was going on.

"Who the fuck are you?" My mom asked. "Mom they're my friends. Leave them alone please." I said and stood in front of her. "Oh, what? You're just a fucking whore now? I want them out." She yelled.

"Okay. I'm their ride, I'll take them home now." I sighed. "Oh yeah 'take them home' sure that's all you'll be doing." She said, putting air quotes. My heart burned to hear my mother talk to me this way. I ignored her and went to my room, grabbing my keys and picking Hershey up. No way I'm leaving him here with that maniac.

The boys grabbed their things and we quickly made our way to my car. "You better come straight home Y/n! I'm not fucking kidding!" She yelled as we walked out.

As I got into the driver's seat, I put my hands to my face, rubbing my eyes. "I'm so sorry you guys had to see that." I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair.

"It's alright... is she always like that?" Atsumu asked. "No actually... I've never seen her do that." I started the car and pulled out of the driveway.

"Uhm where do I drop you guys off?" I asked. They told me their address and they lived pretty close to each other. I knew the neighborhood they lived in, it was a nice one.

The ride was silent. No one wanted to say anything after witnessing that. Hershey sat comfortably in my lap.

I approached their house and stopped when they told me to. "Thank you Y/n!" The twins yelled. I smiled and waved.

"Are you sure you wanna go back there? My mom would be happy to have you." Suna asked. "No, it's okay. Really. She'll be asleep by the time I get back. I'm sure she won't even remember it at all when she wakes." I reassured. "Alright. DM me if you need absolutely anything. Okay?" I nodded and he got out, I saw that on his seat he left a $20 bill.

"Hey Suna! You dropped this!" I yelled for him. He turned around and smiled. He didn't come back just waved and walked into his house. "Mother fucker." I said and smiled, realizing he had left it purposely for gas money. Their house wasn't too far, but in this economy, I was grateful.

As I drove home I stopped to get a drink. I didn't want to go home at this very second. I went through Starbucks (or any other place you want) and got my favorite, along with a pup cup for Hershey. Sure he's a cat but he can have one.

I parked in the parking lot and fed the pup cup to Hershey. Then finally after a lot of procrastination, I made my way home.

I scooped Hershey into my arms and brought him inside. My mom wasn't on the couch so I peeked in her room. She was sprawled out on her bed, yet another bottle of alcohol in her hand.

She probably got alcohol poisoning at this point.

I made my way back to the living room, after putting Hershey in my room. I didn't want him to step on any glass. Grabbing the broom, I swept up the pile of glass and cleaned the alcohol off of the wall.

My heartstrings were being pulled a lot these last long hours. So many emotions ran through my head.

I hoped my mom would be able to get another job soon. I may have to pick up one if not. I of course couldn't be fully mad at my mom. She works so hard to give me a decent life. Even when hers was so difficult.

She has put physical and emotional energy into making me happy. Small slip-ups like this just couldn't be a reason for me to hate her.

Of course, she's emotionally exhausting but I love her, she couldn't do anything that would make me hate her. She's almost always given me the things that I want.

Even if the one thing that I really want is for her to stop drinking.
