Sitting in a treehouse were two teens. The first, Danni, was singing happy birthday to the other, Billie. They had begged Billie to spend her birthday in their treehouse. Billie, after a few rejections, agreed. She loved the safe atmosphere inside the hangout spot. It was quite a large space; used mainly for sleepovers. There was a small blue rug with white clouds, two small blow up mattresses currently rolled up sitting in a pile of blankets and pillow. There was art work covering the walls, pictures of Billie and Danni together on the walls, and a lesbian, bisexual, and nonbinary pride flag illuminated on the ceiling by LED lights.
"Happy birthday dear Billie and me~" Danni sang angelically, "Happy birthday to us!" They smiled at their friend. Billie's cheeks were tinted light pink, a little embarrassed about the attention. However, she loved hearing Danni's singing. She clapped her hands and cheered. Danni giggled and did a small bow.
"You're voice is amazing." Billie said.
"Thanks." Danni smiled sheepishly. "You know how much I love singing."
"And you're really good at it too!" Billie smiled, nudging her friend's shoulder.
"Well, so are you! I mean-you're so popular now! Oh my goodness, you totally deserve it. Your voice is so beautiful and angelic and amazing and-I'm rambling, sorry." Danni covered their face with their hands as they realized how overwhelming their flurry of words might be. They brushed their hair back with one of their hands and twisted a ring on one of their fingers. "I hope I don't bore you to death by talking so much."
"I don't care how fast or how much you talk. If this is how I die, that's all right." Billie smiled. Danni smiled back.
"Wow..." Danni muttered, looking over Billie's shoulder. They got off the floor and walked to the balcony of the treehouse. They leaned against the wooden railing and stared at the sunset. Billie followed behind them.
"It's so beautiful." They stared at the painted sky for a moment before the silence was broken.
"Oh!" Danni started. "We should take a picture! We only turn 14 once!" They cheered and ran to grab a camera. A minute later, they came back with a small Polaroid camera.

The camera went off. Danni took the photo and waved it as it developed. When it had finished, they both looked at the picture and smiled.
Their backs faced the sunset, Danni's arm wrapped around Billie's shoulders, and they both grinned happily at the lens. Billie's blue hair was brightly illuminated by the escaping sunlight.
"It looks so good!" Danni cheered. They grabbed a nearby marker and wrote the date on it. Afterwards, they reached their arm up and placed the Polaroid photo on top of the doorway next to the other photos. Walking back to Billie, they grabbed a small box that was sitting on the floor. "Before I totally forget, I made a present for you." Danni tried to contain their excitement as the other teen opened the gift. She pulled out a necklace with a pendant hanging on the chain.
"Oh, wow, it looks really cool!" She smiled as she looked at it. It was a stick figure that was leaning to the left. It was dark red with a few splotches of orange.
"I also made one for me, kinda like friendship bracelets, but you know, necklaces―so uh, friendship necklaces!" Danni pulled a similar necklace from their pocket, the only difference being the bright blue that faded into a darker, navy blue. "It's your Ilo and my Milo." They shrugged as they slightly cringed, finding the reason childish now that they said it out loud.
"Yeah! That's so cute!" Billie looked up from the necklace to Danni. "Thank you so much! This is so much cooler than anything I'd buy!" She quickly hugged her friend, showing her appreciation for the thought behind the gift.
"Heh heh, I'm glad you like it." Danni's cheeks flushed as they returned the hug.
"What's it called?" Billie asked as she ended the hug. Danni raised their eyebrow. "The pendant, what's it called?"
"Uh, I don't really―I didn't think of a name, just thought it'd look cool." Danni twirled their rings again. "You can call it anything you want, it's yours anyway."
"Hm...what's a cool name for it?" The two sat in a comfortable and thoughtful silence. "Oh! What about 'blohsh'? That's new, right?" Danni nodded.
"That's a totally awesome word!" They smiled. Billie placed the new piece of jewelry around her neck, admiring the 'blohsh'. She couldn't help but smile, their happiness becoming overwhelming.
"You're the most amazing friend I've ever had." Billie looked up at Danni, a large smile spread across her facial expression. "You promise that we'll always be friends?" She asked, unintentionally leaning towards her friend in anticipation.
"I promise." Danni nodded and held out their pinkie finger. Billie linked her finger with Danni's. "I, Danni, promise to always be your best friend."
"And I, Billie, promise to always be your best friend."
