Evelyn was lying on her back in the meadow, looking up at the cloudless sky. She closed her eyes and listened to the water flowing in the nearby river. Birds whistled as they flew above the trees. A smile appeared on the girl's face and she got up walking towards the river. Evelyn whistled out sweet chords and heard the whistle match. She giggled loud and continued whistling.

She turned head in the direction of the whistling and saw the boy approaching. A smirk came to her face when she heard the boy whistle back at her.

She walked back to where she was before and sat among the flowers, watching the boy approach. "Hey Alec, how are you?" She asked in her angelic voice and he stopped next to her, looking down. "Hi Evelyn. I'm fine." Alec replied and the girl patted the seat next to her. Alec landed next to the girl and leaned back on his hands, raising his head towards the sunlight.

Evelyn watched his skin glowing red in the sun and his hair a mess. She smiled widely and Alec turned his head towards the girl. "This is a very beautiful place, you have found a meadow, my favorite place." Alec said with a smile and Evelyn tucked her hair behind her ear while looking down. "This is a beautiful place, I found this when I was on an evening walk." She told and Alec couldn't help but smile.

Evelyn raised her green eyes and locked them with the blue ones. They stared at each other for what felt like minutes and neither them looked away.

Evelyn was lost in her own daydreams and Alec was lost in his thoughts. Alec didn't forget the first meeting earlier in the village and how Jane had spoken to him on the way home. No one in the village liked them, the other teenagers looked at them badly and even their parents told them to stay away from the twins.

With time, they have accepted their position and don't care about others, they have promised to remain each other's safety and support always. Evelyn stole Alec's heart and Jane didn't take it well. She doesn't deny that the girl is beautiful as a god, but Alec with the girl like her, will attract attention and the other boys will intervene.

From a young age, they have learned to stay in the shadows and out of the way. Jane had heard about the family earlier in the village when the villagers had talked, she saw the girl next to her talking to the young man with dimples visible. She had walked to the bread stall and noticed his brother's lustful look on the girl.

In the meadow among the flowers, Alec stared silently into the girl's emerald eyes and watched her hair shine like fire in the sun. She had a basket next to her with wild flowers and a flower wreath on top that she must have made.

Alec blinked his blue eyes and looked away from the girl's beautiful face. Evelyn frowned at the dark haired boy and watched him take the flower in his hand, turning it over and over. "I shouldn't be here." He mumbled aloud and placed the flower in the meadow. Evelyn raised her sharp eyebrow and put her hand on the boy's hand.

Alec quickly turned his head and looked at their joined hands. "What do you mean?" She spoke gently. He looked up and breathed heavily. "I shouldn't be seen around you, you'll get a bad reputation." He said and quickly stood up. "I apologize." He continued and jogged away, leaving Evelyn to wonder what happened. What he meant by his words?

Evelyn got up shaking her dress and took the basket in her hand and started walking towards the village.

Rushing towards the village, her hair blowing in the wind and dancing across her face, she wondered what Alec meant by his words. She could feel the attention of the young boys on her but she didn't care.

"Evelyn!" She heard her brother yell and stopped in her tracks. Elliot stood out and walked towards the girl. "I apologize, but I have to go home." Evelyn spoke and Elliot took her hand. "Could you take these herbs home, mother asked for them earlier?" Elliot spoke looking down at the girl who was staring at her feet.

"Of course." Evelyn answered and took the herbs from her brother, turning towards the road that led to their home. Elliot stayed where he was, watching his sister's disappearing figure.

Evelyn whistled loudly and heard the birds whistle back. Her earlier smile had fallen. She arrived at a fence behind which was a small house, which was normal little cottage. "Evelyn!" Her youngest brother Edward ran out the door and opened his arms, jumping into his big sister's arms.

Evelyn greeted her brother who told her about the animals he saw in the backyard as they walked towards the door. She listened and watched as her brother's green eyes lit up with joy and excitement.

"Remember what father said about wild animals." Evelyn said and Edward nodded. "Especially from wolves in these lands." She went ahead and opened the door and looked back with a sigh before stepping inside.

Evelyn was sweeping the kitchen floor while her mother was cooking. She hummed loudly and her mother smiled. "Elliot said you met the villagers. Jane and Alec was they?" Her mother spoke without looking at her daughter. "Jane and Alec they are twins." Evelyn told and placed the broom against the wall.

"Witch twins." Their father said and walked into the kitchen to sit at the table. "Pardon?" Evelyn asked in surprise and her mother turned to look at her husband questioningly.

"I heard about them in the village, parents don't want their children near them because they are witches." He told, turning his gaze to his daughter. "Stay away from them too." He told.

"Father!" Evelyn said and he brushed her off. "Let's focus on staying out of the way." He spoke and Evelyn looked down at her feet in silence.

Evelyn felt anger rising, how could her father be so cruel and believe everything he hears in the village. She didn't know them well herself, but Alec seemed interesting. Evelyn couldn't help but think about him.
Her father was judging people he hasn't even met and it made Evelyn angry.
