Rest days feels like I am in heaven because I had all day to sit in my favorite coffee shop while sipping with a cup of coffee in hand.
My favorite spot is beside the window. It's very relaxing to watch people passed by while chatting with the person they knew, some walked hand in hand while laughing, and some choose to spend time having coffee or eating some cakes.
This Coffee Bookstore Cafe is very popular to couple's and hard-working person. They have free WiFi access that customer can enjoy while having coffee. It's just that there are two rules here. One, value other person's privacy and if you want to stay a little bit longer or from their opening to closing time, you need to spend a minimum of 250 pesos worth of their products.
Aside from coffee, they also have some pastries--from various cookies and cakes to Italian pasta, different flavors of shake or frappe and tea.
The ambience of the store looks homey with different shapes of rattan chairs and tables, side tables with lamps, and the light looks very dim--giving extra effect for you to think that its your home and you can do anything there.
Most of the stranger in the other tables looks like they are in a relationship. I feel that I'm an outcast since I always went here by myself.
It kept me wondering "what if I met a guy here and became emotionally dependent to him?" On the other side, I think the possibility of meeting an ideal guy in a coffee shop is minimal. But who knows, right?
I put my bag pack in my favorite spot and ordered my usual coffee--Irish. It is made of coffee, whiskey, sugar and cream. The combination of coffee and whiskey is very smooth to the point that if I didn't know the ingredients, I wouldn't know it has whiskey on it.
It's past seven in the morning and the people outside begin to be crowded. Most of them are eager to go to work and be on time.
I can see myself to them because I value time. Being a General Surgeon, I need to decide as early as I can, rely the information to whom it concerns and do the surgery before its too late for my patients. If you are late even for two seconds, it's either you will have a guilty conscience since you didn't do your best or you will be sued for malpractice in exchange of the patient's death.
I sigh. To be honest, I envy those people who still managed to have someone special on their side while facing difficult times.
I never experience having one because I grew up with my grandmother who passed away after I passed a bar for being a surgeon. She is the only one who show appreciation, love and affection for me since my parents got divorced when I was eight.
A group of five person enter the coffee shop: Parents with their two teenager daughters and son, maybe in the age of ten. The children are actively teasing each other and are very Happy while they took a glance at me.
If I'm a narrow-minded person, I would think that they are sarcastically looking at me from time to time. I smirked having those twisted thoughts in mind.
I put the laptop in the table in front of me and started to browse a website where they published online books for free. I wonder how they get an income for this. Though it's very fulfilling to do what you want rather than to think of how can you get an income from it, we still need spending money to live.
I was engrossed in reading a book when I saw someone's shadow from my back. I turn my gaze around to see a man also checking out what I'm reading from the gadget. He's smiling from ear to ear when he saw me eyeing him with a furrowed brows.
