Chapter 1

"Jamie! Stop it!" Amy giggled loudly as he tickled her at the sides. "Only if you say it." He smirked. This jerk is definitely enjoying tickling me to death, Amy thought. She was breathing hard and her bangs were sticking to her forehead from all the sweat.

She raised her arms in surrender as she glared playfully at her boyfriend. Jamie raised his eyebrows expectantly as his ears perked up at the words his girlfriend is about to say. "You. . . are more sexier and handsomer than Channing Tatum." Amy sighed in defeat. She shouldn't have watched Magic Mike knowing that Jamie would come home early.

"Was that so hard?" Jamie grinned at her and gave her a quick kiss on the lips which made her pout.

Amy rolled her eyes. "You have no idea." She loves Jamie more than anything and he's good-looking but Channing Tatum is definitely sexier than her boyfriend though she would never admit that. Wait, she just did. Nonetheless, she would choose Jamie any day.

Jamie has brown hair and chocolate almond eyes that is filled with kindness. Even though he's not that muscular, he is strong and standing tall at 6 feet and 1 inch. Amy always felt small standing next to him but he always made sure that she has the biggest place in his heart.

Amy has reddish brown hair that falls above her waist and a petite figure. Her eyes are a striking blue color that matches well with her porcelain skin.

Amy stood up and headed to the kitchen. "What do you want for dinner?" Jamie and Amy had been dating for 3 years and has been living together for a year now. Both of them are 23 years old and is working at an architecture firm. They met when they were both assigned to design a hotel and fell in love from there.

Jamie and Amy are often thought of as peanut butter and jelly. So different but couldn't be more perfect for each other. "Let's just order chinese." Jamie suggested. Amy was an excellent architect but not a great cook. Her cooking skills are limited to cutting up bread and making a sandwich. Anything besides that is not edible.

"But we just ordered chinese 2 days ago!" She argued, frowning at Jamie. She didn't understand why Jamie likes chinese and other takeouts.

"Please? I really want to eat chinese right now." Jamie begged, not wanting to tell her that the food she cooks makes him think that she plans to kill him with food poisoning.

"Ugh. Fine!" She grabbed the phone on the counter and dialed the chinese place. "But I'm still cooking."

It was Amy's day off and she was enjoying a cup of coffee while watching the news. Jamie was called in the office a few hours ago and won't be home until later.

The sudden ring of her phone made Amy jump and she quickly answered it. "Hello?"

"Amy! It's Linda." Linda is Amy's best friend and a pastry chef. She was planning to build a cafe and Amy would be her architect.

"Oh, what's up?"

"Can you come over to the construction site? The engineer wants to talk to you."

"Sure, Lin. I'll be there in an hour. You better have red velvet cupcakes ready for me." Amy grinned. Linda makes the most delicious red velvet ever.

Linda laughed. "You bet."

Amy hummed to herself and took the keys to her car. After a few minutes of driving, Amy turned on the radio and smiled when she heard a song that her mother loved to play at their radio back at her hometown. 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'. It reminded her of her childhood.

Her phone rang and she saw that it was Jamie. "Hey, babe." She answered.

"I'm about to go home. Work finished earlier than expected." Jamie grinned.

"Oh, I'm heading out. Linda called because the engineer wanted to talk to me about something."

Jamie sighed. "Is the engineer you're talking about Kyle?" Amy and Kyle had a little bit of history since they knew each other from high school but Kyle was the type that likes to tease people and often tries to rile up Jamie by flirting with Amy though it was only for his enjoyment. Kyle, Linda and Amy met each other during high school and has been friends since then.

"Maybe." Amy bit her lip, trying not to laugh. She remembered the time when Kyle introduced himself to Jamie for the first time and said that he was her husband. Jamie looked like he was about to have a heart attack and has been wary of Kyle ever since.

"He better not try anything on you or I'll kick his butt."

"Of course, sweetie. I have to go. Take care going home. I love you."

"I love you too. Call if you need anything."

They both hanged up and Amy parked the car.

"Amy! Over here!" Linda called out to her, carrying a familiar white box that was filled with cupcakes. Amy rushed to Linda with a smile on her face.

"So what seems to be the problem?" Amy asked Linda as she munched on a red velvet cupcake.

"Kyle wanted to know the measurements for the ceiling and the materials you're going to use. Also, he wanted you to look at the blueprint."

Amy groaned. "I already told that idiot so many times about these things."

"That idiot can hear you." Kyle walked over to them with a glare on his face. He was wearing the yellow cap for construction sites which covered his blonde hair but his light blue eyes stood out the most. "Good." Linda smirked. "You two go do your thing. I still have some matters to attend to."

"Okay, let's get this over with. I still need to cook dinner." Amy grumbled.

Kyle chuckled. "Poor Jamie."

It was almost 10:00 p.m. when Amy finished her work with Kyle. Kyle seemed like he was delaying her on purpose which annoyed her and even Linda made her eat as much cupcakes as she can fit in her belly which took up a lot of time.

Amy thought it was a miracle that Jamie didn't bombard her phone with calls and texts. He usually asks what time she will go home and sometimes even goes at the construction site where she's working when she's going to be late.

Amy arrived at their house and saw that the lights were still off. Something felt wrong. Amy felt an overwhelming sense of worry. Jamie said that he would be home early today. Did something happen to him? She looked for her key in her bag and opened the door hoping that Jamie would welcome her with his warm embrace like he usually does when he arrives home first but no one embraced her when she stepped inside.
