You worked at a small coffee shop, it wasn't big or fancy but it was quite cozy and was big with the highschoolers and collage students just trying to get their homework and assignments finished before it was due or to just get away from all the stress. the shop was lit in soft, dim lighting and several plants were placed around to make it warm and welcoming. You loved working there, it was never too busy and when it was slow and quiet you could relax with a good book or podcast while you wipe counters and not have to worry about much.

The first time you met the explosion boy Katsuki Bakugo was when your friend Kyouka Jirou had dragged him by his shirt through the doors, grumbling and complaining about how they had to go to a "stupid cafe" just to do a project they could easily do in their dorms.

You chuckled a bit from your position at the front desk at the sight of your friend dragging him in, a hand over your mouth to keep the giggles in. Finally you calmed down and greeted your friend, "Hey Jirou! How have classes been?" you asked, it had been a little bit since you had seen her come in for a drink or pastry, "its been exhausting, just got done with some exams. I want to drop dead."

That was Jirou's way of thinking and you let out another chuckle at that, "Wow... that bad huh?" you questioned, you didn't know what UA was like as you didn't have the right quirk to be a hero but Jirou had told you all about it and it seemed super stressful "Yeah, Mr. Aizawa has us working like crazy between training and studying-"

"OI, ARE WE JUST GOING TO STAND HERE AND CHIT-CHAT?!" the blond haired boy boomed beside her, obviously impatient to get his order and sit down to work on the project with her "Oh hush-" she retorted "i haven't gotten to see y/n for a while, you can wait."

He practically fumed at being told to shut up "I better not keep you two waiting!" you said politely, Jirou had said before you had a good customer service voice and demeanor which you didn't quite understand but went with it anyways "What can i get you two?" you said as you pulled out a notepad and pen from your apron pocket to take their orders "Taro boba tea and one slice of blackberry cheesecake please" she told you, placing her hands in her studded pockets and leaning to one side as she usually did before turning her head to ask him "What do you want Bakugo?" she asked the blond, you now knowing his name waited for him to decide, he was looking up at the written chalkboard menu above them, "Too much to choose from here... just a caramel coffee... in a small" you nodded "One small caramel coffee, okay! Is that everything?" you asked, it was memory to say that at this point "Yeah. Where do you want to sit ears?" ears was bakugo's unimaginative nickname for Jirou, "There." she pointed with one of her ear-jacks.

"Yeah sure-" he didn't really seem to care yet he did at the same time. You started to make their drinks, pouring, mixing, swirling and shaking. Muscle memory taking over as you made the drinks, you looked over at where Bakugo and Jirou were sitting, papers all over the table and they were in distinct conversation. They seemed to be disagreeing on something...

you watched their conversation, only being able to hear bits and pieces of what they were saying. Hey, you would spy on one of your closest friends as well if she was doing a project with a very angry looking man who was in the same class as her (Jirou had told you all about her classmates and what they looked like, it doesn't take long to put two and two together) "What are they talking about? Is it about the project? If so, i don't think they can agree on what to do... crap... i will go and see if i can help when i bring their drinks" you thought as you cut the blackberry cheesecake that was requested, gently placing it on one of the plain plates the cafe owned before picking up your serving tray and placing the two drinks and dessert onto the tray.

You walked over to where they were sitting and placed their drinks and dessert down "Whatcha working on?" you asked, moving to Jirou's side and looking down at the papers. Jirou was fiddling with her ear-jack, a habit you found cute "We were given an assignment to compare the differences of our quirks, we are supposed to pick one asset to focus on but-..."

"Dumbass ear-jacks here cant decide which asset to do." Bakugo cut in, "More like you disagree with every asset i bring up..." she muttered under her breath "Okay okay! Shut up!" you intervened "Lets see... how about your explosions-" you pointed to Bakugo "And how you can amplify your heartbeat with your speakers!" you suggested to her, you knew their quirks. You had watched the sports festival after all.

"That's perfect!" Jirou replied enthusiastically, her eyes widening "Bakugo! I know what to do now!" she looked up at him "tch-" he scoffed "I would have figured that out on my own-" Jirou just rolled her eyes at him, "thank you so much y/n! oh- you better go, there's another customer..." she looked behind you to where an old lady was waiting for you "OH!" you jumped in surprise "Got to go! See ya Jirou!" you had said quickly before darting off to behind the counter once more, ready to help the sweet old woman with what she needed.

"Just a small caramel coffee... please..." (X Reader Fic)Where stories live. Discover now
