Ellie's pov

These kids or should I say Dina, cat and Jesse are kinda cool, we hung out at some house and watched a movie, it was the first time I watched one since I left Boston

It. Was. Amazing

I think Dina and Jesse have a relationship, they were like very close and everything together while watching the movie

I didn't mind tho, I talked to cat and she told me how she really loves art, and I told her I liked it too, she was so excited she gave me a note book to journal and draw in

And right now it was 1 am and they all fell asleep except for me, I was just awkwardly sitting her looking around

After about 15 minutes I got up and went back to the bar, I sat by the bar and asked for a drink

The man nodded and gave me some shit without alcohol, cuz "I was too young" as if anyone cares about that these days, just as I was about to take a sip I heard someone say something to me

"Hey el, everything alright?"

I looked up to see Maria behind the bar smiling at me, she was drying some glasses

I nodded and gave her a weak smile

Joel's pov

Tommy introduced me to some of his friends, they explained how every day a group goes on patrol to keep the infected away

"So, tomorrow morning you and Tommy check out some small towns around Jackson killing every infected you guys see" one of the guys told me, he's name was Tyler, nice guy

I gave a nod to Tyler and looked at Tommy who grinned at me

"What about Ellie?" I asked looking at the group

"Well I know she's... um trained, but she's still a bit young for patrol, when she's 16 she can go on patrol, 15 she can practice, but before that she can help around in the town" Tommy said looking me in the eyes, trying to see my reaction

I nodded, I didn't want Ellie to kill more of those "things" so this was good, she could rest and help around in the town

Speaking of the red haired girl, where the fuck is she? It's getting late, and we should head back

I politely excused myself from the conversation and walked around looking for Ellie, i finally found her sitting by the bar speaking to Maria

Ellie was telling her about what happened in one of her comic books, Maria had no idea what she was talking about, she just smiled and nodded

"So after that they took like a uh like a sort of spa- oh hi Joel, anyways they took like a sort of space ship-" Ellie kept rambling while me and Maria chuckled lightly

"Hey Ellie?" I said letting my hand rest on her shoulder

"Mhmmm?" She said taking a sip from her drink

"Let's go get some sleep, alright?"

She looked up to me and nodded

We stood up and left the bar walking towards our houses, I remembered I needed to tell Ellie about the patrol stuff

"Hey Ellie? Can you come in for a sec?" I asked leaning against my door

"Oh um yea sure" she said awkwardly walking towards me, we both got inside and sat down in my living room

"Alright, well I talked to Tommy and some of his friends and they told me about what we can do to help in the town" I explained looking at her

She slowly and carefully nodded at me
