Chapter III: Temptation

Two years into William's reign

I've tried to avoid Cormac for the last year, but it is hard to do, he is a diplomat for Ireland. I must avoid temptation, but when I was with Cormac, I felt real love and excitement. I'm married, and it is a sin.

I stare out the window, Dinefwr Abbey towers upon the hill. Knock*knock*knock, I button my waistcoat, " Enter", I command, I hold my hands in front of me.

Cormac saunters in and shuts the door, his pale skin glistens in the sun. " Your Royal Majesty, How are you?", Cormac asks with a smirk. " Well, what do you need?", I ask firmly.

Cormac sighs and walks closer to me, " Have you been avoiding me William?", Cormac asks, his warm breath flows onto my neck. I shudder in excitement. " I don't think I know what you're talking about", I rebuttal as Cormac rubs my arm, my entire body tingles.

" We both know you want this Icarus", Cormac says sensually, he rubs his hand up my thigh. I moan in joy. " Lock the door", I say, Cormac swiftly locks the door and returns to me. I rub my hand through his short, red hair.

Our bodies join once again, I gently slam Cormac against the wall and kiss him. Cormac takes off my blouse and smoothly rubs my chest. I abandon my God and take off Cormac's coat and blouse. I remove my coat and toss it to the chair.

Cormac kisses my neck, I whimper. " Come on Mr. Dinefwr", Cormac says in a soft voice. " Mr. Kelly, you're so kind", I say softly. We kiss once again.

I pull up my pants as Cormac smokes a pipe, he laughs. " Is this a service I should be expecting?", Cormac asks whimsically. I snatch the pipe out of his hand, " Smoking is bad for you", I say firmly.

" Sorry Will", Cormac says sarcastically. " And I'm not sure, about this, about us. I'm a married man, I'm a Catholic", I answer truthfully. " I'm sorry I put you in this situation, I was a fool. But I'm a fool who loves you", Cormac responds.

" I know Corley, I know", I answer. " Your Royal Majesty, are you here?", Dylan knocks on the door. I quickly slip on my blouse, waistcoat and coat, I button my blouse and waistcoat.

Cormac slips on his blouse and buttons it. I unlock the door and open it, Dylan bows. " Your Royal Majesty, are you okay?", Dylan asks firmly. " Yes, I'm just discussing some business with Ambassador Kelly", I lie through my teeth, Dylan stares me up and down.

" Okay, Her Royal Majesty, Queen Mother Anna would like to talk to you", Dylan informs me. I nod, " Yes, let us go", I say as we march down the hall and toward Mummy's room. " Are you sure you're okay?", Dylan asks, his face has a sorrowful look to it. " Yes of course Dylan, why would I not be?", I ask as we stop at Mummy's door.

" Okay, good luck", Dylan says with a slap of encouragement on my shoulder. I open the door and saunter in, I shut it behind me. Mummy lies in bed under the covers. " Mummy, I heard you wanted to speak to me", I say as I sit down next to her.

" Yes Icarus, how are you?", Mummy asks with a grin. " I'm great, how are you?", I ask, my skin gnaws at me. I can't sit here and lie. " My life is not great, I did something really bad Mummy", I say as I clutch into my hand, rubbing my rings.

" What happened?", Mummy asks as she grips my hand tight, making me feel safe and secure. " I committed adultery, with a man", I say disgracefully, my eyes are full of tears. " William, who?", Mummy asks.

" Ambassador Kelly, he makes me feel special Mummy. The same type of special Alix makes me feel. I feel safe around him, he is kind, and loving, and gentle", I say in tears.

" Will, You must tell Alix. I know it will hurt, and it will hurt badly, but I need you to. If she is the woman I think she is, she'll love you no matter what", Mummy says softly. " And I love you, and I accept you", Mummy says after hugging me.

" Thank you Mummy", I say as I weep into her shoulder. Mummy kisses my forehead, " It's okay", Mummy says. I hold her tight and firm, I feel safe in her arms.

Breathe, calm. I open our door, Alix sits in bed reading a book. " Hello Will", Alix says with a smile. I frown back, " Alix, I have something to tell you", I say as I sit on our bed. " What's wrong?", Alix asks as rubs my hand.

" I broke our vows. I had sexual relations with Ambassador Kelly", I say as tears fill my eyes. Alix stares at me in confusion. " I'm so sorry", I say as I get on my knees. " We promised Will, I've been loyal to you for thirteen years", Alix says as she begins to cry.

I hold her, " I'm so sorry, I made a huge mistake. I'll leave him. Forever", I say with my heart aching. I love Alix, I can't ever do this to her again. I hold Alix tight, she never utters a word.

A thickness fills the air, it feels like it drowns me. " Why didn't you tell me you liked men?", Alix says in tears. " I didn't know, I love you Alix. Please, you don't have to forgive me, hold this against me, but let us work through this", I say as I hold her tight. " Am I not beautiful?", Alix asks.

" No, you're the most beautiful woman in the world, and I will always stand by you. Forever, we'll work through this mess. I made the worst mistake in life, I should have never. But I did, and that's my fault, fully. I'm sorry I made you feel horrible, I'm sorry I cheated. I want us to grow old, and have kids, please, let us work through this", I respond, my heart aches.

" You have one week, I want him out of court. I love you William, I understand you made a mistake. And I love you for who you are, whether you love men or women. You'll always be mine", Alix says as she stares into my eyes. " I will get him to leave, and thank you for understanding", I say as we embrace and hug each other.

Alix lets me go, I stand up. " Tell him", Alix says. I nod and wipe my tears. I march out of the room and shut the door. This is going to be a mess. I regret everything that I did, but I love them both, one cannot be. I saunter downstairs and down the hall. I open the office door, Cormac sits in the chair across from mine.

" Cormac, I'm sorry. You have to leave", I say with sorrow. " We love each other", Cormac says as he tears up. " I know, but I make the decisions. You will remain Royal Ambassador, and you will move into Dinefwr Castle. We will not speak, unless we need to. I'm sorry it has to be this way", I say as tears fill my eyes.

I quickly wipe them, " Why must you", Cormac screams. " Because I'm King", I scream back. " Please, leave", I say after opening the door. Cormac stands up and stares at me. " Goodbye. You need to be packed by the end of today, hurry", I say as Cormac walks past me.

Cormac hugs me, I hold him tight. " I love you Will", Cormac says. " Goodbye", I say after releasing him. Cormac sucks his gums, " Goodbye my liege", Cormac says, he bows and kisses my hand. I stand in the doorway as Cormac walks away, I wipe a tear flowing down my face.
