Everything came crashing down, just an hour ago the sky was blue and clear, like an untouched canvas. Now, the sky felt like a shattered heart, dark and murky.

"Duck." Zane crouched down behind a rough bush, pulling Yvonne along down with a thump.

"Hey, what was—" Yvonne exclaimed.

"Shh."

A red misty ray scanned the area they were standing in.

Yvonne whispered, "Oh. I guess we should be careful, I rather not find out what that ray does."

"You're right," Zane observed the area. "I've got an idea."

Zane stood up, he was now in the ray's view.

"Zane! What are you doing? Get down!" Yvonne punched Zane's calves and tried to drag him down.
The ray came closer... and closer. Then, Zane dashed the other direction, no place he aimed to reach.
"Run!" Zane screeched.

Yvonne leapt up and zoomed behind him, just out of the ray's reach.

They ran and managed to get of the ray's radar.

"Sh*t!"

Zane heard a voice behind him.

He looked back to see Yvonne panting and holding her knee tight.

"Oh goodness, what happened?" He went on one knee, kneeling by her wound.

Yvonne removed her hand from her knee, peeling away from the blood. Blood leaked out like a fountain.

"That's looks really deep and we don't have any First Aid equipment." Zane examined the wound carefully. "Do you have anything that'll help in the gear you took with you?"

"No, I was only thinking about fighting, not whatever this is."

Zane was dissatisfied and sighed. "Of course you were. I'll go grab a leaf and water or something. And let's hope something more useful."

How could this happen now? They were on the run, they didn't have time for unnecessary mishaps like this.

Yvonne thought to herself, Seriously? Out of all things, I had to get injured? We can't stall for any longer, Aceline's life is in danger!

"Yvonne!"

Yvonne looked up, coming back into reality.

"Sorry, I was lost in thought. Did you get what you needed?"

"Yes but we've got to do this quick. I saw some weird looking tech robot marching around with a gun, I'm almost positive there's more where that came from."

As Zane was caring to her wound, he looked up slowly. First his eyes then his head.

"Run."

A tech robot, most likely the Avenda, was standing right behind Yvonne.

"F*ck!" Yvonne zipped beside Zane and skimmed through the path. Trees blocked their vision, rocks tripped them up and the bot was at their necks.

"Sh*t, I... I can't run any further!" Yvonne panted and she skipped in her tracks.

"Don't say that, just keep going! The thing should stop eventually!"

"How can I? My... knee!" Blood crawled down her leg and her knee weakened.

She pondered, I... I can't give up. Not to this random piece of junk and wire running after me! Not to anything or anyone!

"Come... on!" She heaved.

Then. An idea sparked in her mind.

Yvonne rummaged through the gear on her utility vest as she ran. A... dagger? As weird as it was, that dagger felt right... like there was a magnetic connection.

She spun around and jabbed the dagger between the Avenda's head and neck, snipping through the wires.

The Avenda grappled onto her lower arm and tried to twist it and get away from the sturdy grip.

"Please! Come on just stop already!"

Zane looked over his shoulder.

"Yvonne! No! Get away!"

The bot spoke in an artificial voice.

"Self - destruction mode activated. Destructing in 3... 2..."

Zane shrieked, "Yvonne!"
